Serverless is a misnomer; your future cloud native applications will consist of both microservces and functions, often wrapped as Linux containers, but in many cases where you the developer ignore the operational aspects of managing that infrastructure. In this session, we will dive into the capabilities of a Function-as-a-Service Platform for Kubernetes/OpenShift. The Microservices evolution was relatively easy, the programming model was nearly identical to the previous generation of Java EE. Today, Functions represent a new programming model for your next generation Java business applications. This will be a demo intensive session.

AppHub is a factory and a marketplace allowing open-source software vendors to easily publish software assets for seamless deployment to any OpenStack infrastructure, and ISV consumers to discover and install trustworthy software in the Cloud. The presentation will cover how AppHub eases the continuous configuration and deployment of enterprise applications and how it helps vendors reach out to the market. A live demonstration of the platform, from asset cataloguing to packaging, advertising and deploying, will cover the benefits of AppHub for OSS producers, OpenStack users and Cloud providers. AppHub is a project bringing together OW2, UShareSoft and Fraunhofer Fokus. AppHub is supported by the European Commission.

Eclipse Sirius is a successful open-source project that has already been adopted worldwide on multiple different engineering domains: healthcare, space, energy, insurance, and so many more… With the advent of its Web version, numerous new use-cases are going to emerge. The game changer is the possibility to define a new DSL and its graphical syntax directly in the Cloud, and the ease to give access to rich studios to end-users directly from their web browser. In this talk we will show which concrete use-cases are already enabled by the current version and how they can be deployed on operational projects with Obeo Cloud Platform, the product that extends Sirius Web with additional collaborative and access control features. If you are new to Eclipse Modeling, or to Cloud technologies (or both), we will also present how we can accompany you on your projects, at your own pace, from a proof-of-concept up to an industrial deployment.

In the first make-over the run-time was replaced in Eclipse 3.0 with OSGi to get a better and more stable foundation for plug-ins. This time the user interface and contributions are modernized for use in Eclipse 4.0. In this session, we will see some of the insides of the new paradigms in e4.

Over the past several years we have seen the continued adoption of OpenStack and it’s expansion into new areas: from cloud service providers, enterprise private clouds to large media companies, telecommunication giants, and big science. At the same time, open source based platforms for network functions virtualization (NFV) are fueling a movement toward cloud computing in almost all major telco’s. In the developer world, open source projects, such as Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes, and Spark are gaining a lot of attention and being integrated into OpenStack through projects Kolla and Magnum. This session will cover how these projects and activities relate to each other and further expand the utility and adoption OpenStack.
