FRANK C. NICHOLAS is the President of Cardinal Law Group. Frank has extensive experience in
patent prosecution as well as all aspects and phases of patent litigation. Frank actively manages the
prosecution matters handled by the firm and prepares opinions for several Fortune 500 companies
in the telecommunications, wireless communications, electronics, software, medical products, and
automotive industries.
Frank has a law degree from the University of Wisconsin and a Bachelor s degree in Mechanical
Engineering from Marquette University. He clerked as an extern for Judge Coffey of the Seventh
Circuit Court of Appeals before joining Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione in 1989 where he became a
shareholder in 1997. Frank is currently working with Matthew Bender and Company, Inc. to
complete Chapter 3, Patents, Copyrights and Trademarks of Current Legal Forms. Frank is licensed
to practice in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and the courts of the State of Illinois and
numerous U.S. District Courts. He is a member of the Chicago and American Bar Associations, the
