Looking back at your preliminary task [the school magazine], what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
When I began my school magazine, I decided to concentrate on the development more than the actual research of the task. I only looked briefly at existing school magazines and I found that I didn’t really have a guideline to help me with the important features and conventions that had to be included in a front cover. When my preliminary task was completed, I had time to reflect on what part of work I could improve on so I decided that the research and evaluation should be one of my main priorities when completing the next set of tasks for my coursework. I hope this would  improve my mark as well as helping me, as a guideline, to develop more organised work.
To also help improve my work I decided to focus on the documentation of the development of my coursework and my thought process which would help the examiner see where I was taking my ideas. I have got more used of the concept of documenting editing and development on Photoshop by using screen caps. To vary my work however, I also used videos which documented my thought processes as I edited images for my music magazine cover, double page spread and contents page. I thought this was very important as I had not used this technique in the preliminary task and lost important marks. So I made sure for my music magazine work that this was the main priority.

  • 2. When I began my school magazine, I decided to concentrate on the development more than the actual research of the task.
