2. Bauer
Who are the company?
• Bauer is a European- based media company, headquartered in Hamburg,
Germany, Bauer manages a portfolio about more than 600 magazines, and
over 400 digital products,50 radio and TV stations worldwide.
• It is a multi-platform UK- based company consisting of many companies
joined around two main divisions. (MAGAZINES AND RADIO)
• They manage:
• Closer
• Grazia
• Kerrang

3. What is their companyhistory?
• 1953 Bauer magazine first launched of Angling Times in 1956 of Motor
Cycle News, till this day it remains an iconic brand.
• 1990 Bauer radio business started with the gain of London dance station
Kiss FM now know as Kiss 100, followed by the gain of Liverpool's Radio
City and later by TWC and the Metro Group. Bauer then gained Magic
105.4 high in the market-lead.
• 1994, the company bought a small magazine called “For Him” which is
now the core of the best-selling international multi-platform brand FHM.
• 1996, Bauer acquired digital music TV channel “The Box”, as a route into
the small screen business, which has grown into Box Plus Network a joint
project TV business with Channel 4.
• 2002 ‘Closer’ was then launched and the first weekly glossy of Britain,
GRAZIA, launched in 2005.

4. What publications do they manage?
Bauer is a publishing brand that include:
Women's weekly
TV listings magazines, mainly; Bella, Take a Break, that's life! TVChoice and
Total TVGuide.
Puzzle magazines.
• 1991 Bauer's first TV listings publishing with the launch of TVQuick
magazine. TVQuick ceased publication in July 2010.
• In 1999 Bauer launched TVChoice at a much lower price than other titles
on the market pushing the magazine forward.
• Q started out as a music magazine published monthly in the United
Kingdom. Originally it was to be called Cue (named after the act of cueing
a record to play). However the name was changed so that it wouldn't be
mistaken for a snooker magazine.
• The Q has now expanded to Radio and Television, with Q Radio and Q TV
music entertainment for indie, rock and alternative.

5. NME
New Musical Express (NME) is a British music journalism magazine published
since March 1952.
It is known for publishing:
• Rock
• Alternative
• Indie music.
• It was the first British paper to include a singles chart, in the edition of 14
November 1952.
• In became the best-selling British music newspaper.
• After a while it became well known with punk rock through the writings of
Julie Burchill, Paul Morley and Tony Parsons.
• It started as a music newspaper, and gradually moved toward a magazine
format during the 1980s and 1990s, changing from newsprint in 1998.

6. Future PLC
• Future plc is a media company with 180 magazines targeted
towards various interests for example it publishes more than 30
magazines in fields such as video games, technology, films,
photography, and sport. In 2006, it was ranked as the sixth-largest
media corporation in the United Kingdom.
• Future is the official magazine company of two out of the three
major games console manufacturers with Official Nintendo
Magazine ceased publishing in October 2014.
• Company History:
• The company was founded by Chris Anderson(TED conferences)
with the sole magazine Amstrad Action. An early innovation the
first company to include free software on magazine covers. The
company has suffered from a of 61% in profits in 2009- due to
mainly US advertising market.

8. Guitarist
Guitarist is a monthly music magazine which is published by Future plc in the
UK.
It is the longest-established European guitar magazine, and is currently the
biggest selling guitar magazine in the UK.
The magazine's current editor is Jamie Dickson (who has been in charge since
late-2013). Each issue covers 3 main areas - reviews, interview and technique.
It features reviews of newly released guitars, amplifiers and other equipment,
plus interviews with famous and up coming guitar players, features on the
guitar industry, news articles, and features on playing technique that are
accompanied by tablature.
Guitarist's slogan used to be 'The Guitar Player's Bible', however in 2012 this
was changed to 'The Guitar Magazine'.

9. PlayStation
• PlayStation magazine is targeted for the gamers in
the gaming community, it will however only feature
PlayStation or Sony products. It predominately
focused for male readers at any age group (females
may also be interested).The Cover features
information about the gadgets and games which will
appeal and interest the gamers. It has main
information about the latest games on offer.
