6. Since making my school magazine, my
preliminary task, I have learnt so much making my
indie music magazine. I feel I have made
tremendous progress in construction, evaluation
and presentation.
7. Front Cover Page Progress
Looking back at my school magazine front cover, I think I did well for being
new to media. I feel that there were good aspects of which at the time I
thought were very good. But as I have come on and comparing it to my
recent front cover for my music magazine, it doesn’t look as professional. I
think this is because since making my school magazine I have learnt so
much more, like techniques and ways that real magazines have been
made. Things such as research have made a difference on what my final
magazine looks like compared to my school magazine. When I was
constructing my school magazine, I concentrated more on making it eye
catching and doing a lot to it, trying to change too much. Learning from
that, whilst making my music magazine I focused on editing, conventions
and making sure it looked professional.
8. Contents Page Progress
When I compare my school magazine contents page to my music magazine
contents page, I can really see how much I have improved. Looking at my
school magazine’s contents page, there is lack of writing and proper
conventions. When I compare this to my music magazine, there is a large
amount of writing on my contents page with little picture and I use lots of
conventions. From this you can see how much I have learnt and in what I skills I
have developed. For my school magazine contents page the only writing I had
on it was the contents information which was minimal. Because of this you can
see I hadn’t analysed a magazine contents page properly to notice all of the
conventions. Learning from this, on my music magazine contents page I added
the contents list with two sections of regulars and features, a band
list, subscription box, contact box and a few extras. The pictures on my school
magazine contents page were not very inventive and they were not really
related to the page. Because of this when making my music magazine contents
page I added three pictures all of which had relevance and a caption to explain
them.
9. Double Page Spread Progress
I did not have to make a double page spread for my preliminary task, but
from my previous contents and front cover you can see that I have learn
new skills and techniques which have developed into my current double
page spread. You can see from my double page spread that I have learnt
and followed conventions from music magazines well and have
developed what I have previously learnt.
10. Research Progress
My research has improved greatly since the making of my school
magazine. I have done so much more for my music magazine
compared to my school magazine, I think this is because I had learnt
from my school magazine how important research is, I also think this
could be because there was a lot more research that I could do. I also
tried to research a range of different things compared to my
preliminary task such as I did questionnaires, analysed other
magazines, researched publishers and target audience. Because of
this I believe my music magazine is a better final magazine than my
preliminary task.
11. Blogger Post Progress
When I compared the amount of posts I made for my preliminary task
and my final task, the quality, amount and regularity for my final task
was a lot more than the school magazine. I made sure this time that I
posted all of my ideas, research, changes and questionnaires of which
I did to reach my end product. I learnt this from last year when I feel I
didn’t have enough of any of this. I believe I progressed very well with
blogger over the tasks.
