2. And the time is right? With the presidential elections
coming near, the hype for politics and the economy will
surely skyrocket. It is quite a commonly known fact that
Democratic President Barack Obama is an avid BlackBerry
user. He used an iPhone once and he considered it to be a
disadvantage for the owner. President Obama is sturdy
with his love for BlackBerry and slightly slanted in his political
race. However, like the avid BlackBerry user, RIM seems to
be stable enough to survive the hard times they have
delved into and are trying to climb as up as well as they
can. Many sell BlackBerry phones in the market while some
do not but the fact remains that RIM is going down.
RIM hopes that their future flagship BlackBerry 10 unit will help them
survive the criticisms of experts and the hardships of their current
financial status. The move by Yahoo! to ban BlackBerry from their
employees was considered an insult considering that Yahoo!’s
move was very intentional. It was a big loss for RIM. Since Yahoo!
3. employs thousands of employees, it could have been a game
changer in RIM’s current financial loss. They have been laying off
workers and trying to be optimistic even though the shades of
despair have been covering their light. RIM will just have to bend
from this reality and raise their chins up with BlackBerry 10’s release
in the first quarter.
It was previously forecasted that BlackBerry 10 would be
released in the smartphone market in 2012. It certainly
created hype for people, especially for BlackBerry patrons.
They say that the future flagship BlackBerry phone will be
the best BlackBerry phone yet with features that have
been modified to answer BlackBerry phones’ repetitive
design and specs flaws. However, RIM played it safe and
postponed the release. They did not want to add more risk
to their risk-laden company. They want to cement their
decision every step of the way. Did they do it right? Many
experts believe that delaying the release is one of RIM’s
biggest mistakes. They should have joined the hype before
4. it started declining with iPhone 5’s release. Although some
consider the BlackBerry 10 and the iPhone 5 to be similar,
the former can never overshadow the latter. That is one of
the reasons the BlackBerry 10 can never claim the top spot.
People’s preferences are also reflective because many sell
BlackBerry phones in the market and buy other
smartphones like the S3 or the iPhone 5.
Which phones dominate the scene? It is certainly not BlackBerry
phones. Based on a survey done by ComScore, Samsung takes
the lead with the most number of users followed by LG phones
and the iPhone 5 respectively. The newbies HTC and Motorola
take the fourth and fifth spots respectively. However, RIM’s
operating system gets the third spot for the most used smartphone
OS following Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS. However,
BlackBerry’s OS users are declining with people preferring other
smartphones. It’s more than obvious that RIM is waning away from
5. the spotlight. That may be the sad reason why people sell
BlackBerry phones fast just to have a new one. The sad part is
whether RIM can catch up with the pace. Only time can tell.
