Question 4 -How did you use
media technologies in your
project?
Construction
I also used WordPress for my research and planning , I found WordPress helpful for the
construction of my media because it was extremely great for how I was getting on when
creating my product, it also allows anyone including teachers to leave comments about my
work, therefore they comment they left I could act upon and improve my work straight away.
WordPress made it easy to create post whenever I needed to, it was also easy for me to
changed the date time and order of my posts.
WordPress made it easy to upload my you tube clips of my trailer as I was creating it. As I was
uploading my trailer my class friends could watch it and give advice before the final product.
For the construction of my products you tube was the most useful programme. Its online its
free and its easy.
I needed YouTube to be able to upload my clips and shots from my trailer, I then needed
the YouTube account to be able to embed the code onto my blog.
YouTube also allowed me to see how many views my videos had got and how many
people it had interested.
However, at the beginning of my project my YouTube wouldn’t let me upload my videos so
I had to save them separately an upload them at a later date, this was annoying because
it looked like I hadn’t done any work.
Adobe Premier pro CS5
Through the construction of my trailer this programme was used the most. I uploaded all of
the individual clips and cut placed them on the timeline.
I included a few audio clips to put over the top of my clips, I had to use this programme to
cut and place them in separately. On this programme you can use the film and audio or
you can use them separately, on my trailer on a few occasions I had to do this so the audio
and film was in sync.
I used this programme to get my song into the background, firstly I downloaded it from
YouTube and then placed it into the trailer where I cut and placed it into the correct place.
Within my trailer this programme allowed me to change to volume of the music and to dim
it when I wanted to include the over the top voice over.
Nikon Camera
Whilst filming for my trailer I used the same camera through out. It was a Nikon camera with
a very good pixel.
It was a clear image all the time and I managed to maintain the quality. However I wish I
had used a tripod more in my footage as sometimes I didn’t have a steady enough hand.
I also used this camera for my ancillary texts to make the pictures of the best quality.
Adobe Photoshop CS5
Photoshop was the programme I used for my ancillary texts. In my media project last year I
struggled with Photoshop as I find it very confusing. So this year I tried to leave myself
enough to get to grips with the programme so that I wouldn’t struggle. At first for my
magazine cover I had a photo in mind, however I had to use the pen cutting tool to cut
round it and it didn’t look right it kept cutting out the wrong bits, therefore I kept it simple
and changed the photo.
After I had completed both of my ancillary texts I had to export my products and them
place them onto my blog. Over all Photoshop was useful for my ancillary texts even though
it took a while.
