15. Using the Self Booking Module of
Millennium
• Investigation and decisions:
• Looked at a few alternatives and examples from many libraries all
over the world, but decided to use the existing booking module in
Millennium
• Advantages:
• It immediately verifies the user and his credibility in the patron
records
• Use can be limited to registered students
• Disadvantage:
• Not possible with self booking to determine total availability before
choosing a room

16. Preparation in Millennium
• System Administrator completed the “Request Service
Commitment: Set up or update self booking parameters”
and submitted to III
• To be able to setup the parameters in Circulation the
following had to be done:
• New location code: fsem = seminar rooms (Potch
Campus)
• New item type: Seminar Room
• A bibliographic record for each Seminar room
• An item record with barcode for each room to be able to
checkout a key
• New loan rule for seminar rooms
• Entry in Loan rule determiner table
