2. Background
Information technology has become affordable
and pervasive. Case in point: the mobile
phone in your pocket
Yet, despite this, IT has not been effectively
used in the health sector. There will be
tremendous benefits if key healthcare
processes can be computerized.
3. Background
In order to create an enabling environment for
the use of IT in healthcare, DOH and DOST
with the guidance of WHO, crafted the
Philippine eHealth Strategic Framework and
Plan (PeHSFP).
The PeHSFP is our roadmap to how we will
use IT for healthcare in the country.
4. Brief History
DOH and DOST are jointly managing the Philippine
eHealth Strategic Framework and Plan.
July 2013: a joint national eHealth governance structure
was formed
Sept 2013: DOH and DOST participated in a writeshop on
the WHO-ITU National eHealth Strategy Toolkit.
PeHSFP maps to the framework of the Toolkit.
