3. World of amphibians
What Makes an amphibians?
Amphibians are animals that live part of their lives in
water and part on land. They usually have soft, moist
skin that is protected by a slippery layer of mucus.
They also tend to live in moist places or near water to
keep their bodies from drying out. There are three
main groups of amphibians: caecilians; salamanders,
newts, and mudpuppies; and frogs and toads.

4. Frogs
Frogs are amphibians, which comes from the Greek
language and means "both lives." Most frogs are born
in water as tadpoles and gradually change into frogs
although some frogs, known as direct developers, are
born as full frogs. This allows them to be born and live
far away from water, such as on mountaintops.

5. The Galapagos Giant Tortoise
The Galapagos Giant Tortoise is the world's largest
land tortoise. They almost went into extinction
because people captured them for food, and because
they were attached by other animals people brought to
the island. The Galapagos Giant Tortoise lives only on
the Galapagos Islands. Their staple food is grass and
cactus, but they also eat fruits.

6. Hippo
Hippopotamuses love water, which is why the Greeks
named them the "river horse." Hippos spend up to 16
hours a day submerged in rivers and lakes to keep
their massive bodies cool under the hot African sun.
Hippos are graceful in water, good swimmers, and can
hold their breath underwater for up to five minutes.

7. Sea Lion
Sea Lion are found in all climates, in both the north and
southern hemispheres and every ocean with the
exception of the Atlantic Ocean. The sea lion generally
lives in coastal ares where there is a good food supply
and land close by for the sea lion to have a rest from
swimming and hunting in the water. The sea lion has 4
flippers which the sea lion is able to turn around when on
solid ground, allowing the sea lion to walk on land.

8. Crocodile
Crocodile, the largest of living reptiles found throughout
the tropical and subtropical regions of the world.
Crocodiles live near swamps and marshes. They
spend much of their time basking in the sun. The
crocodile has a heavy tail, short legs, and webbed
hind feet.
