About
Socially talking The Social Media Portal (SMP) is an information and news portal allowing users (agency, brand and consumer) to learn about global social media  SMP helps users to understand evolving social media
Brief
Social media is not new SMP is an Elemental project highlighting the use of what is now termed  social media.  It isn’t new amongst a variety of different stakeholders including agencies, brands and consumers
Approach
Concept to launch Elemental created the Social Media Portal (SMP) as an integrated  Campaign using the portal as the platform to market the goals of SMP with Elemental managing the process from concept to launch
We planned a site We approached the project as any another; with sketches, wire frames etc., Planning the site, technology and delivery as an integrated project including Media relations, online PR, search and social media
We launched a site SMP launched in 2007 with media relations, PR and social media The site hosts articles, events, news, press releases, research and more We share this content via directories, search engines etc
Drilling down Our comms help SMP demonstrate the influence of social media looking at  Cultural, economic, financial and regional aspects of businesses Revealing and understanding connections between them
Showing relationships SMP shows the connections and how they have an impact upon each other Including other businesses painting a social media landscape demonstrating Relationships and the long time presence of social media
We created ads We created advertising for design, digital, marketing and PR titles Integrated PR, online PR, search and social media marketing with Comms supported a competition for stakeholders
Industry conferences We created pull-up banners and post cards for social media events Elemental continue to attend and also support event partnerships Educating academics, marketers, PR and researchers
Impact
Ahead of the curve SMP achieves coverage across trade media and still provides comment Building a presence across .net, Blog Herald, NMA, PR Week and more SMP highlighted the surge in social media interest
Social media expertise Through articles, features and the site itself, SMP creators Elemental continue to demonstrate expertise within social media and related channels  Over 100 mentions in titles like BCS, DMA and Revolution
Value of comms Our comms and digital activity generates between 15,000 and 20,000 unique visitors per month for SMP with a growing niche subscription  Activity has created more than £20,000 of media coverage
