Welcome to the training module on High Brightness SMT Oval LED Lamps. We study the part numbering and color binning and different properties of the LED.
The new Avago ALMD-Lx36 oval LED series has the same or just slightly less luminous intensity than conventional high brightness, through-hole LEDs. The new oval LED lamps can be assembled using common SMT assembly processes and are compatible with industrial reflow soldering processes. The LEDs are made with an advanced optical grade epoxy for superior performance in outdoor sign applications. The surface mount Oval LEDs are specifically designed for full color/video signs and indoor or outdoor passenger information sign applications.
This page gives device selection guide of ALMD-XX3D / XX36 parts, it also gives color and its wavelength information with is its luminous intensity.
This page gives information about part numbering of ALMD – XX36 avago ALMD series of High Brightness SMT Oval LED Lamps. This family has blue, red, amber and green with oval 40 deg viewing angle
This page gives information about part numbering of ALMD – XX3D avago ALMD series of High Brightness SMT Oval LED Lamps. This family has standard blue, red, amber and green with 30 deg viewing it has SMT InGaN, AllnGaP
This page gives absolute maximum rating of high bright led with tested temperature rating of 25 deg.
This page gives electrical and optical characteristics of LED, it has forward voltage of 1.8V for Red and Amber, 2.8 V fro Green and Blue. And wavelength of Red is 618 nm, Amber is 584.5 nm, Green is 519 nm, Blue is 460 nm.
All SMT LED components may be reflow soldered using a convective IR process. A convective IR process uses middle to long infrared wavelengths, Approximately 65% of the energy is used to heat the air in the reflow chamber (convective heating) and 35% of the energy directly heats the pc board and components. The temperature profile is divided into four process zones. The temperatures are measured at the component to pc board connections.
This page gives binning configuration for amber colour. Tolerance for each bin limit is ± 0.5nm
This page gives binning configuration for Green colour. Tolerance for each bin limit is ± 0.5nm
This page gives binning configuration for Blue colour. Tolerance for each bin limit is ± 0.5nm
This page shows packaging dimension of ALMD-XX3D and ALMD-XX36 devices. InGaN devices are Class 1C HBM ESD sensitive; AlInGaP devices are Class 1B ESD sensitive per JEDEC Standard.
