Target Audiences of Regional Magazines
1.
2. The target audiences for magazines like these are middle age, middle class people.
This is shown by the simple and neat layout of the magazine and features such as
posh/expensive looking interior. This type of content would not appeal to younger,
working class citizens as such items would most likely be out of their price range.
Surrey Matters’ has an image of a middle aged man and his daughter (?) which would
attract someone of the same age and with a similar lifestyle to buy that magazine.
These magazines are for towns or somewhat rural counties which are mostly inhabited
by the middle aged therefore they would get most business from them.
3. These magazines are aimed at much younger, possibly working class people.
The covers are much more artistic rather than just plain portraits or images of
countryside and the content of the magazines are far more suited to younger readers.
These magazines show younger models therefore the magazine is connected to younger
people. These magazines are for larger cities with a large younger population (Brighton
and London), where things such as fashion and nightlife are more appealing than posh
interiors and farmer’s markets.
4. Seeing as it will be easier for me to get access to the
opinions of younger, working class people for my
focus group, I plan on aiming my magazine at this
audience. I will follow the style of Time Out
magazine, however I will include slightly different
content in order to be more appealing to a wider
range of people.
