BIG IDEAS & BBQ
The Society of Digital Agencies (SoDA) presented
Big Ideas & BBQ. The primary panel was focused on
design and user experience (UX) trends and featured
panelists from Microsoft, Adobe, SoDA board members
DJ Edgerton and Steve Glauberman, and our own
Anthony Franco. AOL moderated the panel.

RESPONSIVE     @AnthonyFranco came out swinging with
               the difference between responsive design

VS. REACTIVE   and reactive software.

There was a heated debate on various design

FORM AND   methods and approaches such as design morphism
           and responsive design. However, most panelists

FACTORS
           came to the conclusion that these are really just
           design tactics and should only be a consideration
           or option based on user and business goals.

There was also discussion and debate beyond
             the panels on the delineation between digital
             marketing and digital service/experience as well as
             persuasive design. Digital marketing is focused on
EXPERIENCE   driving awareness and acquisition (selling) whereas
             digital experience is creating great interactions that

IS BRAND     live up to the brand promise (service).

             Experience ultimately is brand, but it’s less about
             persuasive design and more about serving and
             fulfilling customer needs and goals.

The panel wrapped and there was a
final point about technology pushing
higher quality design in our industry.

Mother Nature - who decided
it would be a great idea to
unleash a monsoon at closing
time on 6th St!
