able to apply a great amount of
force against some object
without regard to time or
distance

We need a strong leader.
Of feelings and opinions: Great

How to use “strong”
Used with verbs:
All the weight lifting has made him very strong.

Powerful
Powerful is being able to apply
a great amount of force with
regard to time and speed.
Power means having authority
whether given or earned to
control.
Important and able to control and influence
The president is the most powerful man in America.

Of actions: Having a great physical effect
Ali had a powerful defense.
How to use “powerful”
