- Learning takes place differently than it has in the past. This is because of new media capabilities and applications. Computer-assisted learning has come a long way since it was first envisioned in the fifties. Buildings made of brick and mortar no longer represent the only places of learning. New media, especially the Internet, is making it possible to learn anywhere, anytime.
