Light test
1. Light Leak Test
The first image you take with your camera should be a light-leak test. This
test will allow you to check for leaks in the camera body. We must be sure
light cannot enter from anywhere but the aperture. The first 3 steps are
the same for any exposure taken with your camera.
1. Go in the darkroom with your camera and photo paper. Take one sheet of
paper out of your light-tight paper holder. On the back of the paper (non-
shiny side/ non emulsion side) write your name, class period, and top and
bottom in PENCIL. Make sure you write along the edge.

2. Slide the paper into the back of your camera. Add a piece of tape to the
back if needed. The emulsion side (shiny) should face out towards the
aperture.
3. Close your camera!
4. Go outside and place your camera in bright sun for 5 minutes. DO NOT
open the shutter during the light test!
5. Come back inside and go into the darkroom. Process your paper:
developer, stop bath, fixer, water.
