This year we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great composer and virtuoso pianist Franz Liszt (1811-1886). Described as ‘a genius with a touch of the charlatan’, his scandalous affairs and flamboyant style at the piano and in society made him one of the most famous figures of the nineteenth century. This concert tells the story of a visionary in words and music via Rome, Petrarch and Italian Opera.
