Technology Operations and Concepts
5. CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION
Students demonstrate creative thinking,
construct knowledge, and develop innovative
products and processes using technology.
6. CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION
A-For my job as a Museum Librarian I would be teaching the
docents how to use the library. I need to discover who the
docents are and what there backgrounds are (who are they, what
do they know,…)
S-Discover and clearly state to the Docents what the objectives of
their training are
S-For this I believe a tour of the museum, as well as a tour of the
library and its facilities would be necessary, as well as a
Powerpoint explaining how to use the resources
U-By creating the Powerpoint , I would also test to make sure it
was useful and relevant to the docents
R-I would create a scavenger hunt for material in the library. In
order to find the items the docents would have to have
understood the tour and Powerpoint
E-After the first class of docents, an evaluation of what worked
and what areas needed to be worked on in order to have a better
result.
7. COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION
Students use digital media and environments
to communicate and work collaboratively,
including at a distance, to support individual
learning and contribute to the learning of
others.
8. COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION
A-The first thing would be to discuss with the docents how much they
know about online communication. An assessment will be made based
on the discusssion.
S-The museum offers an online image resource website named LUNA,
where docents can collaborate on projects and collect images and data,
as well as communication through the docent website-both of these will
be the learning objective for communication and collaboration
S-A class on how to communicate through the website as well as
encouragement to communicate via email and phones
U-The docent website is updated with each new docent class, and one
of the new class member will be put in charge of maintaining it for the
next year
R-During and after the website class, docents will be given “homework”
to send messages back and forth to utilize the website.
E-After the first class, an evaluation of the docents would be offered to
give feedback on where there may be areas of improvement-
determining who is more adept at the website and who is more adept at
LUNA
9. . RESEARCH AND INFORMATION FLUENCY
Students apply digital tools to gather,
evaluate, and use information.
10. RESEARCH AND INFORMATION FLUENCY
A-The first thing would be to discuss and assess with the docents
how much they know about online communication
S-The museum offers an online image resource website named
LUNA, where docents can collaborate on projects and collect
images and data. LUNA will be the learning objective
S-A class presentation on using LUNA by the Image Resources
Manager at the museum would be required
U-Luna is consistently being updated as well as the classes on
LUNA usage
R-During and after the LUNA class, docents will be given
“homework” to break into group and create presentations using
Luna
E-An evaluation of the docents would be offered to give feedback
on where there may be areas of improvement in their homework
and presentations
11. CRITICAL THINKING, PROBLEM SOLVING, &
DECISION MAKING
Students use critical thinking skills to plan
and conduct research, manage projects,
solve problems, and make informed
decisions using appropriate digital tools and
resources.
12. CRITICAL THINKING, PROBLEM SOLVING, &
DECISION MAKING
A-I will first have to ascertain and assess how the group and each
individual is capable of problem solving and decision making,
determining strong and weak points
S-I will determine what they need to do and how their skills are best
utilized, as well as state the objectives that will be covered
S-After the presentations on LUNA and online communication, specific
learning tools can be determined. One docent may be better at library
research while another may be more comfortable with media tools
U-The docents will be prepared with the right tools (i.e. computers and
specific class time to prepare their presentations)
R-Some docents will present to the others and be critiqued on their
work, this will change each time so that everyone presents
E-With each presentation, the docent audience feedback will be
evaluated to determine what needs to be re-discussed and taught to the
class
13. DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP
Students understand human, cultural, and
societal issues related to technology and
practice legal and ethical behavior.
14. DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP
A-Docents will be assessed on their knowledge of safe
and legal use of information with an online quiz
S-The docents will be informed of the objectives of digital
citizenship, which are highlighted in the online quiz
S-Luna will be used as an example of legal digital
information, as well as the museum’s emuseum website
page to contrast with just using any image off the internet
U-Docents will be assured that the information that is
provided for them will be safe and legal
R-A video will be provided of good and bad practices
E-A questionnaire will be given to help determine if
everyone clearly understands the legal responsibilities of
image resourcing
15. TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS & CONCEPTS
Students demonstrate a sound
understanding of technology, concepts,
systems, and operations.
16. TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS & CONCEPTS
A- Docents will be assessed for their knowledge of using Luna as a digital image
resource as well as using the library’s OPAC system for research, with a eight
short questions and inquiries created by the library staff
S-The evaluation will determine who is ready to present material to the public
through tours in the museum, and those that correctly use the materials correctly
on at least six queries will be dismissed from further training unless they want to
remain
S-Luna will be the primary source of information because it is provided by the
museum and therefore is accurate and current and provides the best information
on the collection
U-Other methods will be discussed but not utilized until determined to be of the
best legal quality as a resource
R-In addition to the LUNA database, the OPACs within the library will be
provided. Each Docent will be asked to find quality information on a subject to
present to the class
E-After the OPAC presentations, feedback will be collected and evaluated on the
ease of the usage of the OPACS and if there are any areas of improvement
