The Vikings originated from Norway, Sweden, and Denmark where the land was not fertile, causing them to become invaders who raided places like Lambay Island in 795 AD and monasteries in France and Britain for gold and religious artifacts using longships made of wood that could be rowed or sailed. They eventually settled in many places they invaded, like Ireland where they built towns, and their reign as invaders ended after their defeat at the 1014 Battle of Clontarf against the Irish.

•They invaded Lambay Island in 795 AD.
•They robbed monks and monasteries for gold
and chalices.
•They also invaded France, Britain, Iceland and
even Greenland.

4. Longships
•Longships are made from wood and their sails
are made from wool.
•If there was no wind they would row.
•If a Viking died they would put him/her on the
boat and set fire to it.

5. Education
•Vikings kids did not go to school, instead they
learnt stories called sagas.
•They learnt geography, history and navigation.
• Their alphabet was called Futhark.
•They wrote on wood and stone called runes.

6. Gods
•Vikings called heaven Valhalla.
•Asgard was where the gods lived.
•Thor the god of thunder he had a bad temper
and carried a hammer

7. Settlers
•Vikings settled in places they invaded.
•A Smithy was a place they made tools.
•They built towns in Ireland, Limerick, Waterford
and Dublin.

8. End of Viking age
•In 1014 the battle of Clontarf took place.
•The Vikings fought the Irish led by Brain Boru.
•The Vikings were defeated ,but Brain Boru was
killed.
•This was the end of the Viking age.
