3. ETHEKWINI MARITIME CLUSTER
eThekwini Maritime Cluster(EMC) is a section 21 company that
was launched in 2009. The EMC provides a platform for a
collaborative engagement between different levels of
government, state owned enterprises and the maritime
community to implement programs of the common interest
that support the growth and improve performance and
competiveness of the maritime industry.
4. EMC VISION
The vision of the eThekwini Maritime Cluster is to create a
platform on which stakeholders and role players can work
together towards the common goal of improving the
competiveness of the maritime industry thereby
contributing to the economic growth of the city, province
and the country.

To foster the development of the ship repair and boat and ship building sectors

The objective of this programme is to promote the eThekwini maritime

8. Research and Knowledge Management:
The objective of the programme is to provide a central repository of
information related to the maritime industry. This programme will offer

13. Ship building ,Ship Repair and Boatbuilding
The objective of this programme is to factor the development and growth of the boat
and ship building and ship repair sectors which offer good opportunities for
employment creation.
