New Hopes & Vancouver apartments for rent...
2014 came in with a New Moon which only happens every 14 years. After all the festivities, it’s a welcome and auspicious new start for the New Year. We want to thank you all for the many well wishes and cards that Dunowen Properties received over the Holiday Season. My sense is that we are all coming out of a four year downward cycle, and the US real-estate market is finally turning upwards. I was just in Mexico and there are many American tourists coming back who have not travelled for years. There is renewed hope in the air! My word for the year is integration. How do we integrate what we learn? How do we keep alive the feelings shared over the Holiday Season? One possibility: Forget the trying and the going to do’s; the should’ve, the could’ve and the would’ve. Let’s do just one thing, make ONE commitment this year - be good to yourself and be good to each other, every day. Let’s start this for 2014!

2. I have spent the last few weeks with people from all over Canada who seem to be saying the same thing. What’s with Vancouverites? When we moved here it took so long to build new relationships. They just didn’t feel people in Vancouver were very welcoming to so-called outsiders. So here is my challenge to the small group of 4,000 that this newsletter goes out to: SMILE! Include others in what you are doing; begin a conversation with someone you don’t know; get to know a little about that person you meet in the café. I commit to doing my part. How about you? Let’s start here and now to shift the so-called no fun reputation of this city I love so dearly.

Dunowen Properties usually has a bit of down time during the holiday season. However this year has been as busy as ever. We are presently staging three new Vancouver luxury rentals throughout the downtown area and all of our accommodations are fully furnished suites. One of these is already booked for the year. Dunowen continues to acquire quality Vancouver condo rentals and suites to meet our 2014 demands. If you have associates with investment properties we will be happy to talk. Recipe of the Month: Lamb Casserole
Ingredients: * One boned leg of lamb cut into 1” cubes * 2 large onions * 1 head of anise * 2 stalks of celery * 5 gloves garlic * Salt * 2 T herbs de Provence * 1 T curry madras paste * 1 T dry curry powder * 2 T tomato paste * ½ T black pepper corns * 1 T cumin * 4 bay leaves

This year we are starting a new Acquisitions Company which means we will be purchasing two bedroom and three bedroom apartments, renovating them to our Dunowen Properties standards, staged and beautifully furnished for our clients. * ½ cup chopped parsley * ½ cup flour for roux * 2 cups red wine * 1 litre stock or water Instructions: * Season lamb with salt * Sear cubed lamb in a large, hot pan * Finely chop and sauté all vegetables in olive oil in a separate pan * Add all spice and herbs and cook for 2 minutes * Add tomato paste and cook for 1 minute * Add ½ cup of flour cook and stir for 1 minute * Add litre of stock or water; stir and add wine * Pour over cubed seared lamb, making sure to get all the goodness on the bottom of pan. De-glaze if necessary with a bit of water and put in oven for 1.5 hours at 375 degrees * May need to add more water/stock or wine during cooking BON APETITE!
