The beginning of Chousn University was the beginning of a civil university. Our expectation to
nurture elites who will lead in the rehabilitation and create prosperity of our country has become
our ongoing mission.

Foundation Philosophy

Chosun University was born with a national awakening to nurture elites who would contribute

to foundation of a nation. A movement to found a private college in Honam Area that was discouraged under the Japanese
imperialism revived with a foundation of Chosun College Founders' Association in May 1946.

Chosun University provides the following education to nurture talented students who contribute to

The President’s Message

with the pure will of the members of its foundation association to nurture
elite students. In 2013, the 67th anniversary of our school's foundation, our
university will develop further towards our 100th anniversary based on
our past experience and glory.

The Chosun University Library holds a collection of over one million
books, the first in Gwangju and Jeonnam. To collect the books it has
carried forward with a ‘Donation Campaign’ as well as the dynamic
purchase of new books. Meanwhile, the library organizes various
events such as book sharing events, extensive reading contests,
library campaigns and the distribution of a recommended book
catalogue. In the future, it is planning to collect more extensive

The beginning of Chousn University was the beginning of a civil university. Our expectation to nurture elites who will lead in the rehabilitation and create prosperity of our country has become our ongoing mission. Foundation Philosophy Chosun University was born with a national awakening to nurture elites who would contribute to foundation of a nation. A movement to found a private college in Honam Area that was discouraged under the Japanese imperialism revived with a foundation of Chosun College Founders' Association in May 1946. Foundation Ideals Chosun University provides the following education to nurture talented students who contribute to establishment of wealthy and strong nation and public management: Education of Character >> To educate characteristic and creative students who can contribute to the world Practical Experience >> To educate professionals who serve for welfare of our country through creative education that connects university and society. In 2013, the 67th anniversary of our school's foundation, our university will develop further towards our 100th anniversary based on our past experience and glory.
