The beginning of Chousn University was the beginning of a civil university. Our expectation to
nurture elites who will lead in the rehabilitation and create prosperity of our country has become
our ongoing mission.
Foundation Philosophy
Chosun University was born with a national awakening to nurture elites who would contribute
to foundation of a nation. A movement to found a private college in Honam Area that was discouraged under the Japanese
imperialism revived with a foundation of Chosun College Founders' Association in May 1946.

Students who are admitted to Chosun University are systematically
supported from the beginning. The curriculum for new students targets self-analysis and making a career decisions and
the curriculum for higher level students is designed to provide job information and training. For female students, job design
services and Job 1·2 are provided to enhance their competitive power. Also, field programs(1, 2, and 3) have been opened to
increase students’ ability to adjust.
Chosun University has a variety of programs to enhance the quality of employment
as well as the number of students employed. Personality and aptitude tests are available anytime and there is a job and
career camp, a contest camp, an English camp, a career oriented curriculum, a training program, an online certificate
program, a job-matching program, and a leadership academy available.
Job consultants are invited in to provide one on one counselling, and job
consulting which is available anytime in the employment support office. There are special services that provide priority for

The Chosun University Library holds a collection of over one million
books, the first in Gwangju and Jeonnam. To collect the books it has
carried forward with a ‘Donation Campaign’ as well as the dynamic
purchase of new books. Meanwhile, the library organizes various
events such as book sharing events, extensive reading contests,
library campaigns and the distribution of a recommended book
catalogue. In the future, it is planning to collect more extensive
ranges of professional books.
