ADVANCED VIDEO
PRODUCTION
First Semester with Archie
Advanced film documentary
making techniques.
Not all technical, also deals with
the craft of documentary form
and how to tell stories in the
edit.
Suitable if you want to work
with visual media, post
production, news, camera, O/B,
research and er docs.

Produce a 10-20 minute documentary
feature as part of a small group plus
essay.
Deadline in Early January

Advanced Radio
Production
First Semester with Katherine
Study advanced radio production
techniques.
Look at lots of interesting and
innovative forms of radio from
around the world.
Build on learning in radio feature
making and sound design.
Suited to those who want to follow
a radio or reporting pathway.

Digital Media Content: Design,
Production & Broadcast
First Semester with me and guests.
Look at the multitude of digital
media platforms, their influence on
traditional media forms and look at
way to work with them and profit
from them.
Get you ready for working in the
new media environment.
Show you that there are other
options than just applying to the big
media companies.
20. LB 304 Assessment
Work as team on a Prototype Project
and make a pitch pack.
Write 2000 word essay on new media
case study.
Submit essay and project pack before
Xmas and then individually pitch your
project in January.

Final Individual Project
First and second semester with
Lance and Rob plus your own
specialised tutor.
40 credits
This is where you find a topic, read
about it, find a question, research
and write about, produce a project
that deals with it and then write a
concluding paper (ulp!).
This is where you get to really
express your ideas and the heart of
your learning.

Initial Research Report (8000 words)
by the End of January
Produce a film, radio programme,
doc etc that you direct, write,
research and take the lead on by May
Write a 3000 word contextual
conclusion by May

Specialised Production
Role: Showreel
Second Semester with Archie.
Work on other people’s final projects
and create a showreel from the
footage.
Submit online showreel and multi-
media description of production
processes.
