consumer well-being and are
the essential drivers of best

Overview
Consumer trends in food
consumption are rapidly
changing in Western and Asian
markets. Increasing emphasis
is being placed on food safety,
diet and health and
sustainability (in its broadest
sense, i.e. environmental,
social and economic
considerations). These major

Thus it constitutes a useful
model and a valuable source of
complementary expertise to
that within the EU.
EU-NZ research linkages are
therefore important in ensuring
the EU food industry is
successful in meeting the
needs of consumers and in
exploiting opportunities offered
through industry globalisation.

there will be a brokerage
session where delegates will be
able to establish common
interests and develop consortia
to pursue future research in
line with the European
Technology Platform - Food for

themes: food safety,
personalised foods,
sustainability, including animal
health and welfare and
innovative technologies.
Advances in Europe and NZ will
be reviewed and best practice

The conference is open to
delegates from research
organisations, commercial
enterprises and funding agencies
within the EU and NZ. It is a
must for scientists active in the
target themes as well as
industry representatives looking
to develop new products,
processes or identify new market
opportunities. Funding agencies,
or those charged with promoting
research strategies with priorities
in the four themes, should not
miss this chance to engage with
the providers and exploiters of
high quality research.
