For Cisco Field and Partners Only
• This is a comprehensive portfolio presentation for the Cisco Unified IP Phone Portfolio for
      Enterprise, Mid-market and Branch Offices
• It is modular with self-contained presentations on the following portfolios:
Cisco Unified IP Phone 9900 Series
Cisco Unified IP Phone 8900 Series
Cisco Unified IP Phone 7900 Series
Cisco Unified IP Phone 6900 Series
Cisco Unified IP Phone 3900 Series
• Slides 3 through 7 are introductory. These should be included in your presentation
      regardless of portfolio(s) presented
• You will encounter slide repeats if you present multiple portfolios from this deck. This is
intentional for those presenting only one portfolio. Be sure to review Closing Summary
slides, however, as they are customized for each portfolio module.
• Back up slides are for Cisco Field and Channel Partners. These are NOT intended for
customer engagements. They will help you address portfolio positioning, overcoming
obstacles, discuss feature comparisons and how to sell the respective portfolios.
                                                           Happy Selling!

IP Endpoint Customer Adoption Rates
There’s definitely room to grow..
            • Consider these recent market

continued use of legacy TDM phones
            • …and these market projections:
                         Shipments of business endpoints
                         projected at cumulative annual growth
rate (CAGR) of 19% through 2012
                         IP endpoints for businesses (corded,

  1. Cisco’s strategic direction for collaboration has 5 key elements. First, an interoperable, open architecture is a top priority for Cisco. We recognize that people inside the organization and their partners and customers outside operate in different workspaces, with different applications, on different devices and operating systems. Inter-company collaboration is simply not possible without broad and deep interoperability – it is absolutely critical and something the industry needs to be committed to – as it’s in the best interest of all of our customers. With our Cisco Unified IP Phone portfolio, for example, the 3900, 6900, 7900, 8900 and 9900 Series all take advantage of Session Initiation Protocol to position us in support of the goal of expanded interoperability. Next, while collaboration today is largely within the organization with our own work groups or teams, we firmly believe that collaboration over the next couple years, will extend beyond the firewalls…With inter-company collaboration , organizations are able to securely collaborate with their partners, suppliers, and customers as if they were behind their own firewall. Solutions such as the Intercompany Media Engine and Cisco Unified IP Phones will deliver secure and more personalized communications, with video across teams, breaking down geographical and corporate boundaries. Next, we believe that collaboration is moving from text and document-centric, to communications and people centric. Next to a face-to-face meeting, video is the most natural way for human beings to communicate. In fact, studies show that over 90% of our communication is from non-verbal clues – our body language. Especially in this era of reduced travel, video has the ability to increase the trust we build. Video will be a transformative element that will become as easy to use as documents are today – as easy to create, publish, search and repurpose. Cisco Unified IP Phones are a key component to that transformation. For Information [not covered in this presention] [Next, we believe social software will change the way business works. As human beings, we have a natural tendency to build relationships and seek others with like minded interests; we want to share information, broadcast our preferences and contribute our expertise. The rigidly structured, silo’d teams that were traditionally put in place in most enterprises will give way to more fluid, ad-hoc communities. Companies will increasingly rely on “ clusters of experts” to get critical projects completed. These groups will form dynamically to achieve a shared outcome. In the future, people may be dynamically tagged with specific expertise based on their activity in the network – for instance; what applications they work in, which websites they visit, etc. Cisco will deliver Enterprise Social Software with the ease of use, speed and ubiquity that social networks offer in the consumer world – combined with – the security, availability, quality of service, and reliability required by the enterprise.] And finally, enterprise and IT architects will require Flexible deployment models based on the company, their IT resources, users and priorities. The Cisco Unified IP Phone portfolio offers you a wide array of solutions, taking advantage of the robustness, security and performance of the network, to meet not only your IT objectives but also the needs of your user community. From either on-premise server solutions, such as Unified Communications Manager or in hosted models such as with Hosted Collaboration Services. Last, we believe that all of these must be brought together into an integrated experience . Whether we’re talking about the customer experience in a retail store, the experience in financial services, the forklift operator’s experience in manufacturing, or the doctor/nurse/patient experience in healthcare – our vision for collaboration is not just to optimize business processes, but rather to enable new and better experiences that translate to tangible and differentiated business value.
  2. Cisco’s collaboration architecture not only powers our product portfolio, it is also our most important differentiator. From the ground up, it is constructed to enable boundaryless collaboration – breaking down silos between content formats, between individual tools and devices, between companies, and ultimately between people working towards a common goal. At Cisco, we recognize that it requires a combination of both great software and purpose-built hardware to deliver the experiences that most effectively bring people together. It is the converged network that enables unmatched agility, resiliency, scalability and quality of experience – and that allows an organization to securely span beyond its corporate firewall in order to collaborate with customers, partners and suppliers. With Media Net, the network will be able to dynamically route rich media traffic along the path of least resistance to deliver the fastest and highest quality voice, video and data experiences to end users. Devices will automatically be able to advertise what services are available to them so that things like the configuration of dial plans can be automated… changing the experience for those working in IT behind the scenes as well. And there’s much more - so when you hear competitors talk about the network as “just plumbing”, you can respond with confidence that it’s actually an intelligent platform for rich and effective inter-company collaboration. On top of this foundation resides a comprehensive set of network-based services that enrich collaborative applications - services that can turn video into a first-class experience and data into information with appropriate context. Products can be built faster, deals closed more effectively, new market opportunities uncovered. Services such as presence – and we mean presence well beyond the boundaries of instant messaging – that are shared across different tools and devices, bridging between individual application slios using standards-based protocols such as SIP/SIMPLE and XMPP. Services that allow you to locate the people you need to interact with, whether they’re in the office or on the road – and that can manage collaborative sessions such that if a call is dropped, with a touch of a button it can be resumed – and then transferred - as you move between different devices in the flow of your natural workstream. Cisco’s portfolio of collaboration applications leverage these services to help companies deliver against the top line business imperatives they are facing today - - such as saving on travel costs, improving employee productivity, increasing customer intimacy and facilitating innovation as they prepare for the upturn. And for IT, as we’ve stated in our strategic direction, the architecture is enabled through a set of flexible deployment models – whether on premise, Software as a Service or a hybrid of the two – to meet the specific needs of the organization. What you probably know Cisco well for is the communications area of our portfolio. We pioneered IP communications and today are the market leader with a broad range of end points and applications. It’s where the Cisco Unified IP Phone Portfolio of solutions that we’ll discuss today resides.

The IP Phone 8900 Series offers three models in the portfolio including the IP Phone 8961, 8945 and 8941 which takes advantage of similar ergonomic design enhancements as the IP Phone 9900 Series we just discussed. The newest additions to the portfolios are the IP Phone 8945 and 8941 which support built-in VGA video communications making video as easy as a phone call. These two models share the same ergonomic design and offer four line/feature keys with single line appearance functionality. The IP Phone 8945 supports Gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth and is a Class 2 PoE endpoint. It supports XML applications. The IP Phone 8941 is the industry’s first PoE Class 1 video endpoint. It offers 10/100 network switch and PC ports. It supports XML applications. Neither the 8941 or 8945 support USB. The IP Phone 8961 comes with ten buttons (five each side of the display) – of which five can be programmable line/feature buttons (lines, speed dials for those you call frequently or commonly used features – say such as call transfer all calls, call park etc and many more). Which side of the display the programmable line/feature keys are located on is your choice (for example, they could be on the right side of the display to support right-to-left languages such as Arabic or Hebrew). High-definition voice, taking advantage of the G.722 codec, is available with all three models. This is particularly useful on conference calls, across timezones, where you can distinguish more clearly accents and who is speaking. You’re easily able to discern between an “F” and an “S” or an “M” and an “N” – there’s more clarity and much less fatigue. The IP Phone 8961 supports 10/100/1000 Base-T integrated switch ports to support high-speed connectivity of a downstream multimedia PC or server – offering wiring infrastructure consolidation at the desktop for reduced costs. All three enpoints take advantage of the same display characteristics with VGA quality, 5” diagonal and supports the four fixed keys to support the soft-label keys. The IP Phone 8961 supports one USB port which supports usb wired and wireless headsets. The IP Phone 8961 supports a video option – it requires customer purchase of the Cisco Unified Video Advantage as an adjunct video solution. Desktop virtualization is supported by the VXC 2100 client which replaces the current footstand of the 8961. This offers customers the opportunity to reduce TCO at the desktop with consolidation of devices while increasing agility and security of applications deployed within the organization (centralized apps are faster to deploy and offer more security than local copies on laptops that could be lost). The IP Phone 8941/8945 do not support VDI with VXC clients at this time.

While the 8900/9900 Series endpoints support XML applications as do the 7900 Series (and 6900 Series for voice only applications), these two applications are based on MIDlets (used for cellular phones today – use java programming language). The result is a richer experience for users (more vibrant, colorful, detailed graphics, faster response times as can store more info on the phone locally – so less handshaking required between endpoint and server, more intelligence can be built into applications going forward. They will be available for download directly from Cisco.com in April (FCS is April 2 nd ) and the link will be communicated to you once it goes live which will also include the documentation for end users and administrator support. Support will be on the 8900 and 9900 Series (nav cluster on all three models and touchscreen support on the 9971). Customer Benefits: Besides being easy to use and free-of-charge, the calculator can increase employee productivity without need to open up yet another application on top of many open applications on your PC. Weather Forecast can also enhance employee security in times of inclement weather. Partners – These applications are easy to show in customer settings and demo centers to dirve upsell opportunitities - highlighting the large high resolution VGA capabilities of these endpoints along with fast response times using the nav cluster or in the case of the 9971, touchscreen.
  32. Total Cost of Ownership: The 8900 Series supports desktop virtualization with an integrated VDI endpoint that enables support of peripherals including mouse, keyboard and LCD Monitor. Combined with support for industry leading VDI clients, the 8900 Series can support not only Unified Communications but also provide consolidation at the desktop of PC hardware and software (business productivity apps are centralized and hosted in the data center and delivered across the Cisco Network on demand to employees in a software as a service (Saas) model. In addition, the 8900 Series supports a power save option, which if administratively enabled, powers down the display if off hours for energy savings versus the phone in active use during the workday. Savings can be up to 90%. Video, with adoption of Cisco Unified Video Advantage for the 8961 model, supports reduced operating expenses in travel Finally, customers of the 8900 Series have access to easy and scalable expansion of line/feature keys through the IP Color Key Expansion Module. This also provides enhanced user experience for executives as well as greater personalization directing calls into a single point of contact for increased responsiveness. Enhanced User Experience: High-resolution color displays make interaction more intuitive – the vibrant high resolution VGA displays present sharper textual and richer multimedia application information, such as video or with XML/MIDlet applications with 24-bit color support. High-definition voice (delivered with a speakerphone that is also full duplex, handset and headset) results in greater clarity in communications, particularly across time zones – resulting in reduced user fatigue and increased productivity. (uses G.722 codec) A USB port supports wired headsets at time of FCS. Additional peripheral devices may be added in the future to further enhance user experience (not committed development at this time, however). Finally, as with the 9900 Series – there is the choice of two colors (charcoal and arctic white) to support regional preferences along with two handset styles (slimline and standard) to address regional preferences towards weight and contour (slimline 140g, standard 170g, 7975 handset for reference = 210g).

  46. We’re introducing the Cisco Unified IP Phone 6900 Series to workspaces where the priority is on quality, affordable business-grade communications. The Cisco Unified IP Phone 6900 Series provides simplified, yet robust, telephony capabilities in a appealing clutter-free ergonomic design. The Cisco Unified IP Phone 6900 Series expands choice in endpoint solutions to customers as it is a complementary addition to the Unified IP Phone portfolio which includes the 7900, 8900 and 9900 Series’ for Enterprise and Mid-market opportunities today. We’ll go into more detail later on the ergonomic design but several key enhancements with the 6900 Series, in response to customer feedback, are noted to highlight here: Five models – ranging from a lobby phone to single line basic services to multi-line (2, 4 and 12 lines) with added support for video communications as simple as a phone call Dedicated fixed keys for commonly used features such as Transfer, Conference and Hold on most models Choice in colors and handset styles are offered. Charcoal and Arctic White and for Handset Styles (Slimline and Standard). Preferences for Handset Styles vary by theatre and this provides greater choice and comfort to users based on their preferences (all models) Single-call per-line. The 6900 Series introduces support for a new user experience designed for customers who may be coming from a traditional telephony system (analog or digital as examples) and seek a more traditional telephony-like call interaction for their users. With single call per line appearances – if a user is on a call and only one line (DN) is provisioned, the call will rollover to voicemail. If a second line is provisioned on a multi-line 6900 Series endpoint, then the call will roll over to the second line for the user to decide how to manage the call. This is a different user experience from the 7900 Series – which provides users the ability to answer multiple calls, using the navigation rocker, on a single line (referred to as multiple line appearance). Cisco and its channel partners are offering customers additional choice in user experience based on customer needs and the needs of their users. (all multi-line models) Support for the 6900 Series is on Unified CM version 7.1.2 and later for the 6921, 6941 and 6961(recommended to upgrade to 7.1(3) for features and stability). For 6901 and 6911, 7.1(3) is the minimum system release supported on Unified CM. For Communications Manager Express on ISR, support is offered on Release 8.0 (fall 2009) for all models along with SRST (IOS 15.1.1T) Note: There are no support plans for UC-500 or SPA 9000 Servers.
  47. Five models are introduced with the Cisco Unified IP Phone 6900 Series. We’ll look at each in more detail in just a moment but let’s discuss the types of users that would likely be interested in each model here. The 6901 (available April 2010) is an entry level trimline endpoint which is designed for occasional use settings such as lobbies, cafeterias, hallways, hospitality common areas and guestroom baths along with conference centers (such as courtesy phones). The 6911 is a single line endpoint that is designed for lighter communication needs. Classrooms, placements in manufacturing floors and knowledge workers/teleworkers whose need is for light communication services are ideal use cases. The Cisco Unified IP Phone 6921 is a two-line endpoint and is designed for light-to-moderate needs for voice communication services. Knowledge workers and teleworkers. Education, manufacturing, retail, government (note these endpoints are not Trade Agreement Act (TAA) compliant so may not be of consideration to US government opportunities) and healthcare such as doctor’s offices are possible vertical opportunities. The Cisco Unified IP Phone 6941 is a four-line endpoint and is designed for moderate needs for voice communication services. Knowledge workers, teleworkers, administrative staff and managers are candidates for this offering. In non-disclosures, retail, government and financial institutions have had the most interest. The Cisco Unified IP Phone 6945 is a four line endpoint that builds upon the 6941 with its features but adds gigabit ethernet connectivity (first in the 6900 Series portfolio, PoE class 1 and wideband audio headset and handset (speakerphone remains narrowband to keep costs down). The Cisco Unified IP Phone 6961 is a twelve-line endpoint and is designed for active users of voice communication services. Managers, executives, administrative staff are the groups with the most likely interest in the offering. Retail, healthcare (doctor’s offices, hospitals) and hospitality verticals have had the most interest in non-disclosure sessions. Let’s move on now to take a look at each endpoint in more detail along with their respective features and attributes.
  48. The following set of slides highlight the feature attributes of each 6900 Series endpoint. Those in white are common to one or more offerings in the portfolio and thus, once discussed (if discussed), in the interest of time, you can skip them in the subsequent model reviews. Those in orange font are particularly worth noting – given that they are not common throughout the entire portfolio of offerings and thus, are worthy of calling attention to on individual models. Co-branding would be made available through arrangement with a 3 rd party vendor.
  49. This slide is designed for more in-depth feature/attribute review by 6900 Series model – in this case the 6911. 53. Cisco Unified Video Advantage adds video to your communications and collaboration experience by providing video telephony functionality to Cisco Unified IP phones and Cisco IP Communicator softphone application. With Cisco Unified Video Advantage, video telephony is now just as easy as making a phone call. This solution comprises of the Cisco Unified Video Advantage software and Cisco VT Camera III, a video telephony USB camera. With Cisco Unified Video Advantage you can use the familiar phone interface to make and receive video calls on your Cisco Unified IP phone with the video displayed on your PC monitor. Enterprise organizations can take advantage of their existing IP networks to cost effectively extend video to everyone in their organization. This can be used in lieu of the Cisco Unified Video Camera for 9900 Series where user preferences are for a camera mounted on top of the PC or LCD Panel vs. mounted on the phone or their PC supports HD video communications (encode/decode) while leveraging the 9900 Series user experience for audio communications
  54. The 6900 Series ergonomic design introduces several earth responsible enhancements to the Cisco Unified IP Phone portfolio. First is the introduction of a power save administrative option, which when employed, reduces power consumption up to 50% in off hours versus the phone in idle state during the day (this is a conservative metric as the savings are even higher when compared to active use such as being on a call using a speakerphone, etc). The 6900 Series employs ASIC components or application specific integrated circuits that are more energy efficient with less heat output, resulting in a more earth-friendly solution. The 6900 Series also employs reground and recyclable plastics. Think of a grocery bag which is recycled and repurposed. The concept here is similar. Plastics are reground, recycled and used as part of a composite, designed to Cisco quality standards, to deliver a rugged and clutter-free ergonomic design. Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliant. Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) act as part of the European Union Environmental Directive (EUED) which targets the reduction of six substances typically used in the manufacture of electronic equipment. Lead Mercury Cadmium Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+) Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE
  55. The 6900 Series provides customers who are on more restrained budgets, the opportunity to take advantage of Cisco Unified Communications. Whether new installations migrating from an analog or digital telephony system or an expansion of an existing Cisco solution, the 6900 Series provides affordable access to the features and capabilities of Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Business Edition (and in fall 2009) Manager Express with ISR media servers. The 6900 Series offers choice and is a complementary addition to the Cisco Unified IP Phone portfolio. Based on customer needs for applications and services, they now have greater choice in their endpoint solutions from Cisco and its Channel Partners than ever before. Choice also extends to color options and handset styles – of particular importance in certain theatres such as EMEA and APAC where there are preferences towards color and handset contour/weight. Color choices and handset styles are the result of extensive focus group research. User experience with the 6900 Series has been enhanced by simplifying it – having greater appeal to customers who are seeking a more traditional telephony-based experience for their users. There are fixed keys for common functions such as conference, transfer and hold. Support for single-call per-line appearance which may be a more comfortable migration for users formerly on analog or digital phone systems. Finally, the dialpad ergonomics have been enhanced based on customer feedback to integrate more rounded keys for greater tactile feel.
  56. Cisco is committed to delivering world class user experience – enhancing collaboration and business productivity. Cisco offers a broad portfolio of client and endpoint solutions to meet the varied needs of customers whether you are seeking endpoint solutions at the desktop, softclients for PC or mobile devices, conference room applications, VoWLAN environments etc. Evolution of our portfolio of solutions continues, building upon our strengths in collaboration and user experience, while continuing our focus on reducing total cost of ownership. The 6900 Series is a testament to this commitment, providing customers with more restrained budgets the opportunity to take advantage of Cisco Unified Communication solutions with an easy-to-use endpoints that offer rich, reliable business-grade voice communications and basic application (XML) services.

Hollywood Renaissance purchased 120-7920 phones in FY07 Incentive to Cisco sales to aggressively pursue hospitality opportunites Construction boom in emerging markets (Middle East, APAC, LATAM) Not going outside cisco. Target upper-end of Hospitality market Casinos, cruise lines, luxury and upper upscale segments Recetion proof. Less price sensitive, focus on innovation City of Dubai alone recently published intent to build 110,000 new rooms in next 12 months Voice (local/long distance) is no longer a revenue generator (a guest will use his/her mobile phone) Boutique Properties are willing to invest in applications and endpoints to further differentiate the brand Description - what problem is being solved? The “franchise” nature of the hospitality market requires a end-to-end, comprehensive solution that Solution MUST deliver the following capabilities Integration to Property Management Systems (PMS) Retaintion of each v-mail box for 3-days. A Hospitality Requirement is that each voicemail box must be retained for 3 days. Unity would require 3 mailboxes per room - Unity Voicemail requires Cisco to pay royalties and makes this a cost prohibitive option. Nevotek has an offering which would meet this requirement. Major Dependencies Must have Cisco Paperwork for PMS integration application to qualify for vendor lists Hospitality friendly phone – Form Factor, low cost – under $100 Major Features / Requirements and alignment to Unified Communications system release system requirements or theme.

Customer Challenges: For some customers, the navigation experience of the 7900 Series, while very advanced, is not the experience they are seeking for their user community. This can be particularly true for customers who have remained on analog or digital telephony today, would be willing to migrate to IP Telephony/UC but are seeking a comparable call interaction experience to minimize user retraining. In cases such as this, you can leverage the 6900 Series to overcome obstacles or barriers to migration such as lower awareness of technology and thus, a slower adoption rate of IP. The 6900 Series gives you an opportunity to re-engage these customers to encourage migration to IP, with a more familiar call interactive experience for their users, while at the same time taking advantage of powerful features delivered by Cisco media servers such as Extension Mobility. The 6900 Series should appeal to customers who are faced with tighter budget constraints but would still consider migration from analog or digital telephony to IP or further expansion of IP Telephony in their network. Reasons to purchase; The 6900 Series offers affordable entry to Cisco Unified Communications. Customers can take advantage of features such as Extension Mobility while working within the framework of their budgets The 6900 Series’ uncluttered, clean ergonomic design plus support for single call per line appearance should appeal to customers who remain on analog or digital telephony systems today but have interest in migrating to IP to take advantage of IP Telephony/UC features and benefits. The 6900 Series’ integration of a deep-sleep option provides energy savings up to 50% versus endpoints in idle state during the work day – delivering additional cost savings to customers while also being earth-friendly. The 6900 Series will expand consideration rates where customers, for preferences of color or handset styles, did not include the Cisco Unified IP Phone 3900 or 7900 Series as part of their evaluation. The 6900 Series gives you another option to re-engage these customers for migration to Cisco Unified Communications solutions.
