The Department of General Services (DGS) is pleased to congratulate the winners and participants in the
2012-2013 Elementary School Recycling Poster Art Contest!
This art contest demonstrated great enthusiasm for recycling among DCPS students and the staff
members who encouraged them to participate. The inspiring artwork will be used to create posters
which will be made available in 2013-2014 to help advance recycling efforts in schools.
All participants earned a certificate of recognition from DGS. Students who won awards and special
mentions will receive a certificate of recognition from the Mayor’s office. Prizes for award-winning
posters are gift certificates for the students plus the following for their schools: paid transportation for
an environmental education field trip (1st
place); a recycling sorting station (2nd
place); and a gift
certificate for school supplies (3rd
place).

3rd Place: Deavon Lucas, 5th grade; J.O. Wilson Elementary
