Urban green line
2. Context : Started by students from Central Saint Martins as an attempt to
empower some of the bleakest social housing estates in East London, Urban
Green Line has evolved into a guide to everything 'green' in the capital — cocreated around a simple concept of the 'green line' as a physical, digital and
symbolic guide.
3. The Urban Green Line tags green spots in grey cities with one
collective graf: a simple green line. As a green trail running through
the city, the Urban Green Line connects communities to green
spaces and sustainable organisations — encouraging walking, cocreation and gardening along the way.

Design Role: The Urban Green Line map and web portal developed for participants to
share their green experiences and encourage others to do the same. Green lines are
tagged by our community and add up to an emergent system of green lines, viewable
on the map. As both a symbol and a guidance system, the Urban Green Line creates a
strong visual and environmental impact. A guiding path to a greener and more active
lifestyle. Co-created and open. Facilitates local contribution and empowerment.
