A career portfolio is a collection of a person's qualifications and work samples that can be presented to employers. It should include who the person is, how they can help potential employers, and proof of their skills like communication, research, teamwork and leadership through examples of class work, internship work, volunteer work and accomplishments. Career workshops are available to help individuals learn more about creating an effective career portfolio and preparing for job opportunities.

What makes a good career portfolio? The Career Center offers workshops for students and alumni that can help you learn how to outline what goes into a portfolio, and how to discuss it with an employer.
A portfolio provides tangible proof of your knowledge and experience, making it easier for people to get a better understanding of how you can help them accomplish their goals and helping to distinguish you from all other candidates. Making one can also build your confidence heading into an interview or selection process and help you be prepared to talk about yourself in a way that makes sense.
As you begin, comeup with a list of your strengths and skills you can offer to an employer so that you share them in your portfolio. Include examples of these skills from your academic, work, volunteer, or internship experiences.
What facts, data and examples support your abilities, skills and accomplishments?
What can go into my Portfolio? Whether online or as a hard copy, your portfolio could include a number of things and be organized in many differing ways – depending on the industry and even your personal preference. Some examples that are discussed in the workshop besides items from previous jobs might include: Work from classesProjects from internshipsInvolvement in Organizations
Work from classes
Projects from internships
