Nicholas Kodomichalos: A Tale of Sporting Brilliance with Nick Kodos
Pressurized training
1. Pressurized Training
Pressurized training during practice is a well known technique employed by top coaches. Drills that put
the player under mental pressure while physically breaking down the player are used repeatedly to
increase the ability of the player to concentrate in pressure situations during games. The objective is to
make the practices more difficult than the actual game. The physically wearing down the player during
practice while putting them under pressure while repeating a defensive or offensive play builds the
mental capacity. Gavin Featherstone was very good at breaking players down during practice and then
making the games easier than practice, both physically and mentally, against top teams.
Maintaining skill levels during a game as the player tires is a key to winning.
"There are no tactics without technique". Jose Mourinho
