Stay on a Pacific Beach, an
Island or in the Mountains in an all Inclusive Panama Resort
So…you like to be pampered in all inclusive resorts in Panama. Why not? Nothing to do but eat and
drink, maybe exercise a little and have everything at your fingertips. Panama has some great options
for you that not all countries have available.
Panama’s all inclusive resorts are just what you expect an all inclusive resort to be. In this article, we
are going to show you options, not room rates or special deals. Where you go and what you book are
up to you.
On a Pacific Beach
There are three majors, the Westin Playa Bonita Panama, the Intercontinental Playa Bonita Resort
and the Royal Decameron Golf Beach Resort & Villas.
Playa Bonita (what was once part of the Kobbe military base) is only a 20-minute drive from Panama
City across the Bridge of the Americas, which spans the Panama Canal. Playa Bonita has white sand
and is quiet, clean and very tropical.
The Westin is the newcomer with some parts still under construction. But the resort is open and
popular.
The Intercontinental has been open for a few years and is known for seclusion and privacy. From both
2. you can easily go back to Panama City and enjoy sites such as Casco Antiguo (the ruins of an early
Spanish settlement that was burned by Henry Morgan),
Casco Viejo (think of it as the French Quarter), the Metropolitan Rainforest Park, shopping and more.
Then you go back across the Canal and enjoy seafood and drinks by the pool or on the beach.
The Decameron is, well, the Decameron. It is on a white-sand beach in Farallon. (This is not a
recommended day trip from Panama City.) The resort is huge and features a golf course with private
cottages facing it, water sports and other activities.
In the Rainforest
The Gamboa Rainforest Resort is about 30 minutes from Panama City. Its location is unique in that it
sits where the Chagres River flows into the Panama Canal. This resort is for nature enthusiasts. There
is a cable car Canopy Tour that takes you above the rainforest. You can go monkey or bird watching.
You can sit and watch the big ships go through the Canal. The fishing is excellent. You can also go up
river and tour Choco Indian settlements.
In the Mountains
The Valle Escondido Resort, Golf and Spa is part of a large retirement community and is located on
125 acres in Valle Ancon in what once was a volcanic crater. Valle Escondido translates to ‘hidden
valley’ so you can imagine the surroundings. You have high cliffs, a stream that runs through the
development, flowers, fish ponds and even a golf course. Think fresh air, peace and quiet and green,
green, green.
On an Island
The Garden of Eden is located on Isla Solarte, one of the islands in Caribbean Bocas del Toro. It bills
itself as ‘exclusive and for adults only’. You can only access it by boat. Bocas del Toro is famous for
diving, snorkeling and fresh lobster taken straight from the sea. It is also the gateway to the
Bastimentos National Marine Park, the Zapatilla Keys and indigenous Indian villages. If you are lucky,
you can swim with a dolphin or two.
So, you can see that Panama’s all inclusive resorts offer you a variety of options from beach to
mountain to island. And since this is a tropical country with mild temperatures year round, you can
visit anytime it fits your schedule. Nice.
