1. Costumes
When it comes to the costumes within my movie opening, I have really gone for stereotypical bank
heist features. I took notes from heist films such as ‘Point Break, The Dark Knight, Reservoir Dogs’
etc and they all wear either a smart black dress suit, or a coat of some form, most of which are
masked too. I have not got a lot of costume to go on as the main part of the film is based on above
the waist shooting, therefore the long coats and masks are the only things in view.
Coats:
I chose to have a dark black coat, not only because my actors all own a similar type of jacket, so it
looks co-ordinated, but they are a way of looking inconspicuous in a crowd, which would have
happened when robbing the bank. I chose the long black option, because I knew that it was
accessible for everyone within the group. I also used them as black is a colour associated with
danger and death, so to emphasise the severity of my characters I will use these.
Masks:
My decision with the masks was not difficult, in fact as soon as I had the idea to do a heist film I
immediately set about emailing the drama department asking for a set of masks, which they very
kindly provided. With the masks I was influenced by films such as The Dark Night, as they exceed
anyone’s expectations of a brutal bank robbery, so to add effect to mine I will also be using masks.
