1. Fashion For Paws Supports DC Charity
The Fashion for Paws annual event is one of the major supporters of the Washington
Humane Society. The Washington Humane Society has been working for the welfare of
our furry friends (among other animals) for almost 150 years.
The Washington Humane Society is the sole open access shelter for animals in the DC
charity area. It takes care of about 30,000 animals every year and offers an extensive
range of programs all geared towards protecting animals and making their lives better.
Some of the more notable programs at the Humane Society are the detailed adoption
program, the affordable spay and neuter program, lost and found program, and foster and
volunteer projects. All the good work that the Washington Humane Society is doing
would not be possible without the generosity and support of concerned people, as well as
organizations. Aside from individual contributions and donations from benefactors,
several events are also put up annually in order to raise funds in support of this great
cause.
Fashion for Paws is one such event that started in 2007 as a fundraiser for this important
DC charity. It began as an annual spring runway show that turned into a year-long
program aiming to continuously raise funds for the Washington Humane Society. Plus,
the Fashion for Paws spring runway show earned recognition as the best fashion event of
the year in Washington DC three consecutive times and features famous personalities,
such as runway models. More than 1700 tickets are sold for the event each year.
This year, the Fashion for Paws runway show and benefit will be held on Saturday, April
14th, from 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM at the National Building Museum. There will be more
than ninety top-rated participants and each of them will be raising a minimum of $5000
to go on the catwalk. E's Ashlan Gorse is set to host the much-awaited red carpet event.
