The Small Rural Hospital Improvement Grant Program (SHIP) provides funding through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to small rural hospitals for purchasing computer software, hardware, and training to implement quality improvement initiatives. Eligible hospitals have 49 beds or fewer. For fiscal year 2010, 45 small rural hospitals in Missouri received a total of $389,277 in SHIP funding, with each hospital receiving around $8,650. Hospitals must submit reports on how funds were used and any needs.
