2. What is Threadless.com Threadless is an online community that aims to produce T-shirts featuring the work of participating artists. Timeline Started in the year 2000 with $1,000 won from an internet t-shirt design contest 2000-2002 - Jake Nickell & Jacob DeHart meet in an online design forum and begin collaborating on creating t-shirts out of the work submitted by the other artists based on their competition experience. 2003-2004 - Threadless started as proof of the founders’ ability to build e-commerce sites. It was a sideline to their website development business. 2004-2006 - The t-shirt demand outgrew the 900sf apartment they were living in and they move into 3,700sf space. By 2006, they had moved into their current 25,000sf space. 2007 - present - They have added international sales to their portfolio, growing the Threadless community.

5. What’s in it for the designer? Designers who are printed receive 2000 USD and 500 USD gift certificate. The gift certificate can be exchanged for additional 200 USD cash. 6. Bestees & Critiques Bestees A monthly design award The community can vote on which design is their favorite of the month. 7. A Loves Challenge A special type of challenge launched with a sponsor. T-shirts need to be designed based on a given theme The winning T-shirt is chosen by a pannel of judges including the sponsor and Threadless staff The winning designer earns the regular Threadless prize as well as an additional prize from the sponsor.
