I am going to answer a very common questions regarding lists
- How do I get a list to advertise my opportunity to?
- Where do I get a list without paying too much for it?
- Where do I get a list of customers who have already bought?
Lists are essential part of internet marketing, however, the key is knowing the specific type of
customers and list you are wanting. What type of customers do you need? Do you know? Why do
you need this list of customers? Who and why are important questions. Their answer will dictate
the list you obtain.
You can buy almost any list you want; there is a variety of lists available to you. However, will
these customers benefit your business? If you do not know who you need and why you need
them, it is likely that you may end up with a customer list that is of no use to you.
If you obtained a list of customers that purchased cell phones but you were promoting your
network marketing business to them you wouldn't have very much success. In other words,
knowing exactly what customer type you are looking for will enable you to identify the proper list.
Your business is unique; therefore, your customer list should be as well.
So before you go buying a customer list, ask yourself a few questions:
oAre you targeting males?
oAre you targeting females?
oDo you want only local customers?
oDo you want worldwide customers?
oAre you looking for online shoppers?
oAre you looking for direct mail shoppers?
oWill any price point do?
oAre you looking for customers who purchase high price point items?
2. oWhat products should these customers have purchased?
Not only do you have to ask yourself these questions, but you must also consider these questions
before purchasing any type of customer list. Make sure before you make that purchase, you have
these questions answered and these answers are specific, not round about.
Ok, for the sake of this article, let us assume you need a customer list of those who have
purchased or are involved with something to do with network marketing.
Now, you need to get a little more specific. Who is your specific prospect? Lets say your perfect
prospect is a male or female between the ages of 20 and 30 and has been involved or expressed
an interest in the network marketing industry.
You see, it is important to get specific. You have to know who you are looking for. The next step is
taking this information with you and looking for these people in mailing lists offered by others for
purchase.
However, before you do that, you need to figure out how you intend to advertise to these potential
customers. Will you keep your advertising to the online world, or expand some and send them a
letter or postcard offline?
For the sake of this article, let's say you intend to use the online method via email or newsletters.
Now that we have decided this, you want to ensure that you test your advertising campaign. You
want to make sure you get the results that you are looking for. In order to do this you must find and
or test ad copy that gets results based on past performances.
When you are ready to start looking for a list, you will want to find yourself a list broker. However,
make sure it is someone you have faith in. Then give them the information you have found, what
you are looking for in a prospect. The cost and quality of the list will vary, it may be essential to
perform a small test. This test to find out if they provide high quality lists could run you around
$500 or more if they use email blasts.
Now here is the kicker. When you use these list brokers to advertise you DO NOT get to keep the
list you are blasting your email to. You get to blast them with a ONE TIME email. So make sure
that wherever you are sending these people that the page is optimized to get visitors to opt in or
purchase (more about that later)! Now, the people that you capture from your page that came from
the email are your prospects that you now build a list with that you get to keep!
You do not just go out and buy a list of hungry prospects wanting your product or opportunity. You
must create your own list. But you advertise to someone else's list and the people that click on
your link to your site that you capture are now part of your list. You don't want someone else's list
anyways because it will not be targeted to your business.
Actually, you need to reverse your thinking. Why would you really want a customer list from
someone else? Don't you really want one of your own? You want your list to trust you and know
you, this is best the way to build and keep customer relations. You can't buy that trust from
another person, you have to earn it yourself. Itt is not easy and it does take a great deal of time.
3. However, the positive is that you own that list, it is yours, and nobody else's. Take care of those on
your list and you will find the rewards that only you can benefit from.
In conclusion building, generating, and maintaining a list is a complex area. In this article I only
mentioned 1 or 2 methods of building your list. There are paid and free ways to build a list but it
takes time and if you are a beginner it especially takes guidance. The problem for most beginners
is they have an idea or are involved with a company that tells them to go out and build a list and
advertise to them. But that leaves the beginner thinking "ok but how the heck do I do that
EXACTLY!?" That is why for most beginners in network marketing it is best to get the help of a
