a. Kinaroroonan
Once known as Holland, the Netherlands is located in Western Europe. It borders
Belgium to the south, Germany to the east and north, and the North Sea along its
western coast.
b. Sukat
The country has a total area of 41,526 square kilometers (16,485 square miles). This
includes 33,889 square kilometers of land (13,084 square miles) and 7,643 square
kilometers (2,950 square miles) of water. The coastline of the Netherlands is 451
kilometers (280 miles) long. Its land borders are 1,027 kilometers (638 miles) in
length. The border with Germany is 577 kilometers (358 miles) long and that with
Belgium is 450 kilometers (280 miles) long.

The Netherlands is a very flat country with
almost 25% of its land at, or below sea
level.
Low rolling hills cover some of the central
area, and in the far south, the land rises
into the foothills of the Ardennes
Mountains. Vaalserberg, the country's
highest point is
located there, rising to 322 m (1,053 ft).
Over many centuries severe floods
devastated the Netherlands, killing tens of
thousands. Determined to save their
homeland and reclaim it from the sea, the
Dutch used countless windmills to pump
water out of low-lying areas. They
constructed man-made hills (polders),
raising the level of farms and villages. In
the early 1930's the damming off the sea efforts continued when the Afsluitdijk
(dike) was built.

3. a. Anyong tubig
The Netherlands is crossed by hundreds of miles
of navigable canals. One of the most important is
the North Sea Canal, as it enables ocean-going
ships to reach the port of Amsterdam.
Water, water everywhere, as the central and
southern Netherlands are positioned at the delta
of four major rivers, including the Rijn, Mass,
Scheldt and Waal.
The countrys largest lakes, Ijsselmeer and
Markermeer are both manmade, created by
dikes.
b. Klima
The predominant wind direction in the
Netherlands is southwest, which causes a
moderate maritime climate, with cool summers and mild winters. This is especially the case
with places within direct proximity of the Dutch coastline, which sometimes are over 10 °C
(18 °F) warmer (in winter) or cooler (in summer) than places in the (south)east of the
country.

Rail transport for public transport is operated mainly by Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS),
minor parts by Arriva, Syntus, Connexxion, DB Regionalbahn Westfalen, Veolia
Transport Nederland and Prignitzer Eisenbahn (PE Holding AG, Arriva) (for the latter
two, see Enschede). The Dutch rail network is the busiest network in the entire world.The
main public transport in the Netherlands for longer distances is by train. Long-distance
buses are limited to a few missing railway connections. Regional and local public transport
is by bus, and in some cities by metro and tram. Also there are ferries.The Netherlands has
one of the most dense highway networks in the world. There are 135,470 km of public
roads, of which 5,012 km are national roads, 7,899 km are provincial roads, and
122,559 km are local and other roads. The Netherlands has a motorway density of 57.5
kilometers per 1,000 km², the most dense motorway network in the European Union. A
motorway is called an "autosnelweg" (plural: "autosnelwegen"), or simply "snelweg".
The postal service in the Netherlands is performed by PostNL in most cases—which has, as
of 2008, a monopoly on letters lighter than 50 g. The monopoly is planned to expire in
2009.[1]
PostNL's competitors include Selekt Mail[2]
and Sandd. Post offices that are owned
by Postbank and TNT Post have been earmarked for closure between 2008 and 2013.
Postal codes in the Netherlands are formed of four digits then two letters (in capitals),
separated by a space—1234 AB, for example.
