Today we plan to discuss with you the changing architecture of student learning. There have been numerous libraries who have adopted the concept of the learning or information commons. What we hope to demonstrate to you today is that that trend is still evolving. To illustrate these changes in library structures we will talk about: The definition of ‘learning commons’ (its evolution) The motivations for this change (our students/ users) Then we will illustrate how the buildings and students needs can converge To do so, we will show you some exemplary IC models in existence today And demonstrate how CUB is planning to adopt the models All with the intent of speaking to a shifting learning environment in higher education that is responding to our students and the learning initiatives they continue to encourage and build for future generations.
