2. Description Pink dolphins are not the same as the dolphins as the dolphins you would see in the ocean. They do not have a dorsal fin. Instead they have a hump.They can reach up to ten feet long and two hundred pounds.
3. Habitat Pink dolphins live in the Amazon region.They can be found in the Amazon river,Orinoco Basins and upper Madeira.They make their homes in rivers.
4. Habits Pink dolphins eat crabs, catfish, small river fish, piranha and even small turtles. They spend a lot of their time at the bottom of the river looking for food. The Pink dolphin is a bottom sleeper. It sleeps with one eye open.It rest its brain one side at a time. The pink dolphin must think to breathe so it just rest on the bottom and comes up every 8 minutes. The Pink Dolphin has adapted a long snout and small eyes.
5. Reproduction They can take from about nine to twelve months when mothers give birth to the baby pink dolphin. They are born between July and September. Their babies are called calves and they are about 30 inches long and weigh about 2.2 pounds. Mothers nurse their calves.
6. Enemies Pink dolphins do not have many enemies. They are sharks, people and our pollution. They do not like people because thousands of dolphins die every day in fishing nets.
