Our latest strategy statement for the Digital team is available for you to take away today, and will define the framework within which some of Technology Strategy Board’s future activities will be constructed. We’ll continue our work around Creative Industries. Digital content-based industries are a substantial part of the economy, where the UK is particularly strong (whether they be directed towards entertainment, news, learning or many other things beside), and the tensions in this area are far from being resolved. We’ll now also build outwards from this to look at the underpinnings of our data-driven industries. Digital technologies have a huge impact on transport, health, resource management, public services and many other things besides, and we’re only just beginning to see the shape that the new data economy might take. We’d welcome your input and involvement throughout this journey and, in closing, can I for one last time invite you to bring your digital resources and your creativity to the IC tomorrow platform. Many thanks.
To simplify this, we have identified 7 perspectives, that allow us to identify the systemic challenges…
The network of service provision and of value distribution can be very complex, and digital goods and services can behave completely differently from physical goods. We continue to look for new perspectives on this, and new ways to identify systemic issues that impede innovation , and prevent benefits from percolating fairly to all corners of this ecosystem. If we can help UK businesses to succeed in this, the impact will be felt across all business sectors that are dependent on the digital economy.
