- 2. Library use continues to grow.
- 3. More people use the library each year. The number of people using the library each year is consistently higher than the amount of materials that are checked out.
- 4. What are people doing in the library?
- 5. Many are attending programs . Children are listening to stories. Singing songs .
- 7. Reading to… … their special Reading Buddy
- 8. Teens and Tweens are playing a variety of games. Game Day What Happened To Wellington Alternate Reality Game
- 9. They are doing crafts and teaching crafts.
- 10. Adults are doing crafts too. As well as discussing books, doing yoga, listening to and speaking with authors getting a passport and more.
- 11. Many people are asking questions.
- 12. Some have questions about books. Do you know where I can find a book on whales, an historical novel, a how-to book? I really liked this book. Can you recommend a similar one?
- 13. Others need information Can you get me the new legislative map? Who invented the fiberglass surfboard? How many and what kinds of nuts are consumed in the United States? These are questions we answered in the last year.
- 14. But most people are just using the library.
- 15. Our new Early Literacy Stations with their touch screens are a favorite with the youngest users; but they like our puzzles and board books too.
- 16. Older children are reading graphic novels, studying and using computers.
- 17. Adults come in to read the paper, look at magazines, check their email, and use our Wi-Fi.
- 18. The library is a place for everyone.
- 19. Sometimes we don’t have enough room for all the people...
- 20. and students have to sit on the floor.
- 21. … or search for a quiet corner.
- 22. Programs can’t be held in the library.
- 23. Night with Cranbury Jazz at the Presbyterian Church Thanks to the Friends for picking up the cost of using Fellowship Hall.
- 24. We are running out of room for books. We have no space left to put children’s non-fiction or new middle school fiction . We stopped buying new books for these areas until we can come up with a solution. But whatever we do – it will be only a temporary solution.

- Each year the library checks out more books. And each year we check out more materials such as magazines, audio books, videos, games, museum passes and equipment. In fact, our total circulation has doubled in the last 10 years!
- Since 2000, the number of people using the library has grown 44%. But here is the interesting fact. The number of people using the library each year is consistently higher than the amount of materials that are checked out. Think about it. That means that for each person that comes in and checks out 3 books there are at least 2 more people that come in the library and don’t check out anything. What are they doing?
- Teens and Tweens are playing a variety of games – board games, puzzles, inter-library tournaments or an alternate reality game. Or they are the special Reading Buddy or craft instructor. Adults are discussing books, doing yoga, listening to and speaking with authors or getting a passport.
