            Dresden

   The capital of Saxony
   7th largest city of Germany
   A very important
    industrial location
   2 important traffic routes
   A lot of weaponfactories
   642 000 citizens
   A cultural city
The night of 13/14 February
 The USAF and the RAF
 1249 heavy bombers dropped 3900 tons
  of high-explosive bombs in four raids
 The target was the whole of Dresden
 The attack lasted 38 hours
The result
 25 000 casualties, a lot of them were
  citizens
 The Nazi’s said that there were 200 000
  victims, to show that the allies were cruel
 Fifteen square miles of the city was
  destroyed (80% of the city)
 There were between 100-200 000 refugees
Rebuilding of the city
   A lot of the monuments of the city were
    destroyed, but a lot of them are rebuild
    with the help of charity organisations.

The Frauenkirche was ready in 2005, they
  started in 1993
