1. Reduce Energy Bills with a Composite Door
According to a recent survey carried out by the Double Glazing & Conservatory Ombudsman
Scheme, 61% of 1224 homeowners asked cited ‘reducing energy bills’ as the most popular reason
for replacing windows and doors.
And, according to a report by Palmer Market Research, sales of newer, better insulated, composite doors
have risen by 30% this year.
Interesting research indeed, and perhaps inevitable given the rapid rise in energy costs - this year alone
gas prices have risen by 22% and electricity by 12% - so it stands to reason that homeowners are looking
at measures that will help them cut fuel bills and make their home as energy-efficient as possible.
In recent years many have turned to solar panels, especially as the Government offered a subsidy
against installation, however this is now under threat as subsidies may be cut by half by next April if the
Government adopts proposals set out in the on-going consultation on its popular feed-in tariff scheme.
So the statistics showing an increase of 30% in the sales of composite doors could well increase even
more throughout 2012, as the more energy-efficient your front door is, the less heat you will lose, and
consequently the lower your energy bills will be.
The composite doors from Composite Doors Yorkshire use the Kommerling profile systems, which are
highly energy efficient and 5 chambered for better thermal performance. In addition all glass fitted in our
doors is energy efficient Pilkington K Glass. This is a low emissivity coated glass which reflects heat back
into the room whilst also letting in free heat from the sun, known as passive solar gain. Pilkington K Glass
helps glazed doors to achieve high energy ratings to comply with Building Regulations Part L.
