1. Summary of our work
Archbishop Makarios III Lyceum
(Dasoupolis)
2. Meeting in Bubapest
We proposed humanitarian aid to a village in
Zimbabwe with the slogan: Break the circle of
poverty . Our presentation included videos,
speeches and a full proposal.
In Budapest, the proposal of Portugal for
humanitarian aid to Njambasana in Angola
was chosen.
4. Meeting in Angouleme, France
In May, we had the chance to travel to France
and expand our proposals and thoughts on the
project for humanitarian aid to Angola.
6. Meeting in Venice
In October, we met in Venice once again to
discuss about the proposal and the help to
Njambasana. Our school participated and we
were glad to sent two representatives.
8. Fundraising activities
Through Comenius- EUSOLA and the general
project of humanitarian aid to Njambasana, we
took several action to help raise money to give
in January to Portugal. These actions were
organized by students involved in Comenius-
EUSOLA and the teachers.
9. Fundraising activities
Christmas Love Bazaars
In order to raise awareness and money we
organized Christmas Love Bazaars. These bazaars
were held at school, from the 19th-21st of December
during the breaks. Students had the chance to buy
home made snacks such as biscuits, pan cakes, cup
cakes and other various products. Also, there were
drinks, for instance freshly made juice and coffee,
cold drinks and tea. Moreover, in disposal were
aromatic and decorative plants and small hand-
crafted projects for Christmas. Last but not least,
there were hand-made jewelry that students and
teachers had the chance to buy

School football matches
Every year the students of our school organise a
futsal championship so we took the opportunity
to inform the students at the matches for the
programme and its purpose. Moreover we sold
drinks such as water and food such as
chocolates and popcorns. The income of them
was given for the programme and the students
were willing to help.

13. Fundraising activities
Calendars
Within the Arts classes, there were some
paintings and projects made about Comenius
and because of that our school decided to
provide a calendar that the paintings would be
included. All the money was given to us for the
EUSOLA project.
14. How we informed Cyprus about our goals,
action and generally the project
Before we travel to Portugal for our meeting, we informed about the programme,
our action and the general idea of Comenius and EUSOLA. We have already
informed:
The community and our mayor through meetings and an article in multiple
newspapers.
Our teachers were informed through weekly meetings.
In our school website, we uploaded several articles and information.
We informed our classmates and other students through speeches in the Language
Arts classes.
After the speeches, we have contacted interviews and gathered some results (100
students were asked).
In the Christmas Love Bazaar and in the School Football Matches flyers were given
to students and guests.
At school, we made a board on which there is information about Comenius-
EUSOLA and students, teachers and guests can easily be informed.
We organised a meeting with members of the volunteer organisation Red Cross
Cyprus and we had the opportunity to discuss with them about the humanitarian
aid. After that we informed them about our actions in the programme Comenius.
15. Interview after the speeches in the
Language Arts classes
q After we had given some speeches to our school s students to inform them
about the project, we contacted an interview. We asked 100 students about
Angola and Njambasana to see if our speeches were productive.
q Some of the questions were:
Before the presentations, did you know where Angola and Njambasana
were?
Did you have any idea that in Angola many children do not go to school?
q Results:
Most of the students did not know where Njambasana was. They have
never heard of it.
They did not know that they could help through a European programme.
They were all willing to help and to try to inform other students as well.
16. What we gained from the programme
and the project
qBy participating to Comenius and the EUSOLA
project, we gained many skills and experience.
Some of those are:
Computer skills
Public speaking
Cooperation with other students from European
countries
We have learned how to work and cope with the
pressure of school and the project.
We have made a lot of practice by speaking English
