Based on six weeks of market research by Maggie Verduzco from Mexico, these are proposed market - product strategies for entities in IGN to implement to raise TNs that will develop leadership and positively impact society
2. what was my market
research process?
• First Step: Initial Research
- Reading and researching through different reports (UN, PwC, Deloitte,
KPMG, EF, OECD, etc…)
- Talk to Global Coordinator of IGN
- Review information of government investments in each country of IGN
- Survey MCVPs and ALUMNI
• Second Step: Analyzing information obtained
- Calls to Employees, Directors from different sectors
- Calls to Trainees
- Talked to ALUMNI
• Third Step: Final Research
- Review Qualitative and Quantitative data (graphics, tendencies)
- Target Markets of each sector chose: Healthcare, Education, and SME/Social
Businesses
- Countries able to implement these strategies
- Established an added value to sub-products
3. What purposeful gip strategies am I
recommending?
• Healthcare: Providing the Talent that Pharmaceutics are
lacking of in Latin America.
• Education: English Instructor focused in approaching
youth with different workshops related to: Social
Enterprises, Global Vision, Entrepreneurship, and
Leadership.
• SMEs/Social Businesses: Providing the Trainees that
SMEs/Social Businesses need to expand their operations
and cover their current needss.
4. Market product strategy 1
HEALTHCARE – PHARMACEUTICS
1. Marketing/Sales: Pharmaceutics claim for these profiles
in order to target their products in different markets
and countries.
2. Chemical Engineer/Project Management: Trainees
participating in the processes of product’s development
or participating in current projects.
5. What is the evidence for this
strategy?
• The industry (pharmaceutical) will need the skills of talented
public relations agencies to communicate accomplishments.
“All these issues can be addressed effectively using PR
campaigns.” – Global Weather Report on Healthcare PR
• Seeking in Job Markets and pharmaceutics, such as: Lilly,
Merck, Novartis, Roche, Pfizer) the most vacancies were for
Chemical Enigneers, Project Management, and
Marketing/sales.
• The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified 17
neglected tropical diseases (NTDs),25 which form a significant
part of the global disease burden and touch the lives of 1
billion people in the developing world.26 Some NTDs can have
lifelong consequences on individuals. Others lead to acute
infections which can be fatal. These diseases — whose names
are not commonly known — include Buruli ulcer disease,
dengue, cholera, trachoma and guinea worm disease, and
primarily affect poor people in tropical and subtropical areas. WHO
7. What entities would you recommend
implementing this strategy?
• Brasil
• Mexico
• Venezuela
• Argentina
• Colombia
• Panamá
• Costa Rica
• Chile
• Ecuador
• Perú
8. What training should members receive to sell this
effectively?
1. Understanding of the sub-product, countries which
have most of the supply of it, and the social issue that
you are solving with it.
2. Understanding of how the pharmaceutics and its
market works in your country of origin.
3. Talk to people involve already in those markets
(trainees, ALUMNI, friends, etc…) and collect inputs
from them. Therefore use them to deliver workshops to
members.
4. Attend to networking events, conferences related to
those topics.
9. In implementing this strategy, what should entities
be careful of?
1. Research if the pharmaceutical has worked before with AIESEC
in your country. If yes, then be aware of why they stop to do it.
(PS. I’ve received feedback that some AIESEC entities have
delivered a bad service to pharmaceuticals, be informed of
that!).
2. Make sure your members understand clearly how the subproduct works and added value of it.
10. Market product strategy
Education – English Instructors
1. English Instructors: Trainees that would teach english to
youth (starting with 16 years old) and providing
workshops related to: Global Vision, Leadership,
Entrepreneurship, and Social Enterprises in private
institutions.
11. What is the evidence for this
strategy?
• By Surveying ALUMNI most of them concluded that Education
is an important sector that need to be impacted for the
development of youth.
• Providing workshops would may lead to encourage youth to
think about being Entrepreneurs rather than seek jobs: “There
are various indicators of their importance (SMEs) in the region:
the proportion of all businesses that are SMEs, the number of
jobs they create, and in some countries even their contribution
to gross domestic product (GDP).” - OECD
• Some of the benefits obtained through increasing English
knowledge are: Promote employees within companies,
increase Export/imports, Higher salaries for people,
communication with nonspanish speakers. – Education First
12. English Level in different countries,
according to Education First

• Guatemala
• El Salvador
• Nicaragua
• Costa Rica
• Panama
• Colombia
• Venezuela
• Ecuador
• Perú
• Bolivia
• Chile
• Uruguay
• Brazil
• Puerto Rico

16. What training should members receive to sell this
effectively?
1. Understanding of the sub-product, countries which
have most of the supply of it, and the social issue that
you are solving with it.
2. Understanding of how the Private institutions and its
market works in your country of origin.
3. Use Best Case Practice of your country as an example of
the achievement that other Private Institutes obtained
through working with AIESEC.
4. Attend to networking events, conferences related to
those topics.
17. In implementing this strategy, what should entities
be careful of?
1. Do not promise English Instructors that we cannot
supply (Example: All of them would be english native
speakers).
2. Make sure to analyze the supply that we already have in
the system.
3. Make sure to be aware of countries which are Raising
the most of english instructors.
4. Research if AIESEC has worked before with the Private
institution.
