Fundraising IDEA …  Baseball Field  Renovation Project  That is home for Handley High School, Shenandoah University and Winchester Royals Where is the $$$$$$$$$$ going to come from ?
WPRD Operation Budget since 2004,  roughly 2% of City’s Operating Budget : 1,746,964
WPRD Operation Budget since 2004 … 1,748,460
WPRD Operation Budget since 2004 … 2,055,300
WPRD Operation Budget since 2004 … 2,128,700
WPRD Operation Budget since 2004 … 2,439,000
WPRD Operation Budget since 2004 … 2,526,000
 
City Council Approved a much needed salary increase for Winchester Police force that will be an  increase that will cost the city $451,000.00 Councilors Richard S. “Dick” Helm and Timothy S. Coyne voted against the plan, which will cost the city more than $450,000 to implement.  The money will be taken from reserves for the remainder of this fiscal year.  Beyond that, the source of funding remains unknown.  That will put the city government “behind the 8-ball” come next year, Coyne said.  “I just think there is a more fiscally responsible way to do it.”  *** Source Winchester Star, Wednesday, August 13, 2008 ***
 
The NEW City Traffic Signals Project, Total cost = 6.7 million  Burden to the City of Winchester :  $5,000,000.00 $1.7 million of the 6.7 million of that comes from state funding.
 
 
New Senior Citizen  Adult Center located in Jim Barnett Park $5,000,000.00
Winchester to begin replacement of aging water, sewer lines on Sept. 2nd $6,500,000.00 It will cost the city government $6.5 million to replace the two miles of water and sewer lines along Cork Street, East Lane, Woodstock Lane, East Street, and Berryville Avenue.  This is an estimated 60 year project ! The cost will include new sidewalks, fire hydrants, and manholes along the corridor. Public Services Director Perry Eisenach estimated that the leaks cost the city about $100,000 each year.   **** Source Winchester Star, Thursday, August 21, 2008 ***

Has the City of Winchester sacrificed financially several properties at the Tax payers expense ?
Is Shenandoah University here to stay in the City of Winchester ?
Does Shenandoah University have plans to build their own softball and baseball facilities ?
Is it a long-term goal of  Shenandoah University  to move up to   Division II of the NCAA ?
Is Shenandoah University’s baseball team the heaviest user of the baseball facilities of Bodie Grim and Bridgeforth Field along with the batting cages ?
Should … Shenandoah University  pay their “fair share” of the renovation project ?
This project needs the assistance of an institution that has an Developmental Dept that has the means to generate funds quickly thru alumni and mailing lists …
“ Shenandoah University ”…   The City of Winchester needs … your  HELP   with this “baseball field renovation”  project to help rejuvenate this facility to get it back to flourishing times  ! SU, will you  HELP … the City of Winchester …   HELP  you ?
