1. LEVANTAMENTO TAXONOMICO PRELIMINAR DA ICTIOFAUNA
DA LAGUNA DA TIJUCA, RIO DE JANEIRO
The studied arl!a is located in J<icarepagua shoal, Rio de Janeiro state.
The purpose of our work is to contribute to the ichthyological kroowlc " ' and the preservation
of the Jacarepagua lagoon complex, because of it's potentiality as a procriation area of many impor-
tant fish families, with economic valca for the na~ive people.
In this paper we studied the following families: Elopidae, Clupeidae, Ariidae, Poeciliidae,
Anablepidae, Mugilidae, Atherinidae, Centropomidae, Carangidae, Gerreidae, Sciaenidae, Gobiidae,
Cichlidae, Bothidae, Soleidae and Synoglossidae, with their r·.:;>~':tive genus ar. , species.

A bibliografia referente a ictiofauna do comp~exo lagunar de Jacarepagua e bas-
tante escassa. CORREA (1936), descreve a restinga de Jacarepagml, suas lagunas e a
explora<;:ao economica da area, citando os seguintes peixes nas lagunas da Tijuca, e

2. Camorim: Mugil platanus (Gunther, 1880), Micropogon undulatus (Linnaeus, 1766),
Oxilabrax undecimalis (Bloch, 1792) Geophagus brasiliensis (Quoy & Gaimard, 1824)
e Pseudopimedolus zungaro (Humboldt, 1812). ANDREATA (1979), em seu trabalho
sobre a osteologia da nadadeira caudal, menciona algumas especies por ele coletadas na
laguna da Tijuca: Diapterus brasilianus (Cuvier, 1830), Diapterus rhombeus (Cuvier,
1830) e a ocorrencia de exemplares das famflias Ariidae, Mugilidae e CicWidae.
Iniciamos os noSsos estudos na laguna da Tijuca, onde abordamos nesse trabalho
as seguintes famflias: Elopidae, Clupeidae, Ariidae, Poeciliidae, Anablepidae, Mugili-
dae, Atherinidae, Centropomidae, Carangidae, GeiTeidae, Sciaenidae, Gobiidae, Cichli-
dae, Bothidae, Soleidae e Synoglossidae.
A Laguna da Tijuca (Fig. 1) situa~e na restinga de Jacarepagmi, no Estado do
Rio de Janeiro. Estende-se desde 0 morro da Joatinga ao morro do Rangel, contornan-
do os maci90s da Tijuca e Pedra Branca. Sua bacia hidrognifica e composta pelas lagunas
da Tijuca, Camorim, Jacarepagua e Marapendi, com nurnerosas entrancias e ilhas.
A extremidade leste da restinga forma com 0 morro da Joatinga urn estreito canal
denominado Barra da Tijuca, por onde entram e saem os organismos marinhos para a
laguna da Tijuca, que se comunica no seu extremo posterior, na altura do rio das Pedras,
com a laguna de Camorim, hoje restrita a urn estreito canal; e esta com a laguna de Ja-
carepagua. Da laguna da Tijuca, em frente a ilha do Ipe, parte 0 canal de Marapendi.
as rios que desembocam na laguna da Tijuca sao: rio das Pedras, que nasce na
vertente do morro do Pinheiro e da Marambeira, desembocando no canal que liga as
lagunas da Tijuca e Camorim; rio Itanhanga, que nasce no morro da Taquara, no maci<;:o
da Tijuca, desaguando perto da f6z da Cachoeira, cuja nascente se localiza perto do Born
Retiro, no morro da Tijuca e desemboca em frente a ilha da Gig6ia, tendo 0 rio Gavea
Pequena como afluente.
As coletas foram realizadas em 5 esta<;:res,desde 0 canal da Barra da Tijuca ao rio
das Pedras (Fig. 1), de mar<;:ode 1975 a dezembro de 1982, com redes de espera de 401nm
de malha, tarrafas com malhas de 18, 20 e 25 mm para a captura de especimes de meio
porte, pu<;:a de fIl6 de 1,5 mm de malha, para a captura de pequenos exemplares e pesca
a mao. Foram efetuadas semanalmente pescarias diurnas e noturnas, com canoa a remo
de fundo chato e desembarcado ao 10ngo das margens.
