Water types differ by their sources and the processes they undergo. Some
water types are derived from reservoirs and subterranean water sources
while others are mechanically purified. These vary in composition and
minerals, as well.

drinking? Which is used for cooking and home
maintenance needs?
Purified
Purified wateroriginates from spring, surface
or groundwater. It represents the fastest
growing segment in the bottled water industry. Impurities from this type are
removed at extremely low levels. Types of water purification include carbon
filtration, reverse osmosis, distillation and deionization. Because of these
processes, the quality of water from the
source is different from its quality when
bottled.

Tap water flows freely from home faucets.
It hails fromtwo different sources: lakes
and dams. Waterworks clean this water
depending on its rawness. Chlorine is used to purify this type and is added

This water is safe for human consumption and
comes from a municipal source. No ingredients are
added unless it is considered safe like fluoride.
Mineral
Mineral water originates from an official recognised source. This type of
water found in mineral springs that contains various minerals such as salts
and sulphur compounds. Mineral water not only prevents dehydration but
also the body with essential minerals.
