Who we are…
We strongly believe that each and every child regardless of his or her social background is entitled to a childhood free of worries and full of happiness.
This common vision of 150 volunteers with diverse professional backgrounds was the reason to found and continue to support the association KRASS e.V.. We offer access to projects and grants of fines arts and a safe location to come to and join art classes for children and young people.
What we do…
In the background of KRASS e.V. is the german Düsseldorf-based foundation ‘Stiftung Kultur für Kinder’. Between its goals is to provide a secure financial basis for the work of our association. The executive team of KRASS e.V. and all external volunteers are the ones who do the work for and with the children. Via KRASS e.V.:
• We help children and teens to develop a healthy self-esteem, learn about their strengths and find ways to express themselves.
• We believe that learning about fine arts and being creative helps children to build a positive future for themselves.
• We give grants to financially disadvantaged or talented children.
• We operate mobile art studios for children, we run art projects in schools, we sponsor schools for children with special needs and we transfer our knowledge to partners in other cities and other countries. We operate our 10 affiliates within Germany, under a concept of social franchising. We build further our network in Asia.

2. VISION: In all regions of the world and throughout all social classes, children and teenagers should have
access to culture and education.
Our goal is to empower children and teenagers through art and culture. We try to motivate them and encourage them to develop true passion
for the arts by offering team events, individual Scholarships and co-operations with private and public institutions. A side benefit is the
opportunity given to the children to voice themselves and talk about their concerns.
While opening up pots of paint, children also open up themselves.
3. THE ORGANIZATION

4. WAS BEWIRKT KUNST
Creativity means freedom. Art helps overcoming fears and expressing problems. Art and culture enhances conscious perception and
helps children engage socially. Culture encourages children to think outside the box.
Through artistic activities socially deprived children and teenagers develop numerous skills, such as:
• Self-competence (Decision making, overcoming fears)
• Social competence (Art as a communication tool)
• Methodological competence (Traumatic experiences can be dealt with and resolved)
• Problem solving- and Organizational competence (Trial and error, celebrating success)
Also, art serves as an impulse for communication between parents and children.
KRASS e.V. programs consist of:
Fine Arts / Literature / Performing Arts / Music
Since we value pedagogically responsible standards our events and programs are always lead by
certified educators who are supported by volunteers.
6. Since 2014 we offer daily art courses and artistic activities in refugee shelters in Düsseldorf which are mainly geared towards children
aged 4 to 18.
Around 2760 children and teenagers have profited from our programs so far.
Our so-called „Art Bus“ visits five different shelters in Düsseldorf every week. We provide art materials that children and teenagers can use as
they wish –special artistic talents are not needed. Our time-outs from their tough situations are open for everyone. All of our courses take
place in the shelters so that they are accessible for all inhabitants of the shelters.
REFUGEE RELIEF – The Art of welcoming.
Refugee children have had horrible experiences. In order to let them regain easiness and happiness we use
artistic and cultural activities.
We actively encourage integration by offering courses for refugee
children and German children every Wednesday afternoon.
7. REFUGEE RELIEF
An important part of integration into our western culture and learning our language are our
performing arts projects.
Experiences from other facilities have proven that integrative theater (meaning native speakers and refugees who have just
started learning German) can improve language levels so strongly even within months refugees can be integrated into the
school system. We use our own, methodologically sound concepts in order to achieve our set goals.

Guiness Worldrecord: „Largest Children‘s art studio“
Claudia Seidensticker explains how an idea turned into an internationally operating organization:
