2. What is it?!
The Queen’s Case Competition Union is the team of
students eligible to represent the Queen’s
Commerce program at external case competitions.!
– This marks a departure from the current case team
selection process!
– Exceptions will be granted to external case
competitions of a highly technical nature!
– ie. Trading, Sales, and IT case competitions!

3. Why does it exist?!
Borne out of discussions between the Commerce
Office, Faculty, and the Commerce Society, the
QCCU was created to:!
– invest in training and student development over longer
periods of time, and from early on in their student careers!
– create a more consistent, and transparent process around
case team selection!
– improve the case team selection process in terms of both!
i. working team dynamics, and!
ii. performance evaluation over a longer term!

4. How will it work?!
– As any ComSoc member organization, the ‘team’ will be
selected by the ‘co-chairs’ through a hiring process!
– ‘team’ = members, ‘co-chairs’ = co-captains!
– team will consist of ~10 students/year!
– ‘managers’ will function as members, with additional responsibilities!
– Members will meet at least monthly and commit to
regular training, workshops, and mock case competitions!
– When an upcoming case competition is announced:!
1. Members will apply to be selected for the team,!
2. A mock case competition will be held, and!
3. A panel including faculty, administrators, and the co-
captains will select the competition team!

5. Why should I apply?!
Commerce Society members* from all years should
consider applying for the QCCU:!
– To be eligible to compete in external case competitions!
– To improve both hard and soft skills (ie. presentation,
data analysis, strategic thinking)!
– To become a part of what will become a tradition of
successful representation of the Queen’s Commerce
brand abroad!

*Note that hiring will be repeated in September for students currently on exchange
(who are not eligible to apply in this round of hiring), and for the class of 2017.!

6. How do I apply?!
All full-time Commerce students* for the 2013-14 academic
year are encouraged to apply as follows:!

Application:!
– Can be downloaded from the ComSoc portal!
– Due Wednesday, March 20th at 11:00pm!

Auditions:!
– Case presentation auditions to be held on Saturday, March 23rd!
– Sign up for an audition time slot on the ComSoc hiring portal!
– Hard copy of the case will be distributed 24 hours in advance of
your audition time in the Goodes Atrium!
